Beginner Archery

Learn the basics of shooting a compound bow with park rangers. You will be shooting in a safe environment. Fun for kids and adults, come see how you fair. Civil War kids’ programs

Soldier Saturday
Sat. & Sun. Aug 11 & 12: 10AM-4PM
Fort McAllister State Park, Richmond Hill
The fort’s plantation house will be open and ready to be explored. A park ranger and a Civil War soldier will entertain topics of conversation ranging from fort history to civil war medicine. $5-$9. 912-727-2339. Learn more here. 

Children’s Civil War Drills

Fort McAllister State Park, Richmond Hill
With the aid of wooden muskets children will learn how to march and “load in nine times”, just like a Civil War soldier. A musket demonstration will conclude the program. Fun for kids and adults. $5-$9. 912-727-2339. Learn more here. 

Battle Rattle

Battle Rattle is a modern name for soldiers gear. Learn how this term is rooted in the civil war. Rangers will discuss all of the gear that a civil war soldier would carry into combat, and what makes it rattle. 912-727-2339. Learn more here.
