    Annual SCAD International Festival in downtown Savannah

    The International Festival features traditional music, dance, food and more
    Presented by the Savannah College of Art and Design to celebrate the diversity of SCAD’s international arts community. The event is free and open to the public.
    Among the festival highlights are performances by Grupo Kachimbos de Savannah, Mystik NRG and DJ Omar Richardson. Other events include appearances by SCAD’s Global Fashion Showcase, The Irish Dancers of Savannah, traditional Peruvian folklore dance, Korean pop dance and Tibetan plateau dance. Arts and crafts will be available for purchase.
    Visitors also have the chance to taste cuisine from around the world. Participating restaurants providing samples for a minimal cost include Casbah Moroccan Restaurant, Carlito’s Mexican Restaurant, Middle Eastern Cuisine, Ruan Thai and Taste of India.

    Price: $3 per pound. Pre-weighted, pre-lined buckets available.
    Cash or Check only.
    Hours are Monday – Friday from 9 AM to 4 PM (everyone must be out of the field at 4 PM) & Saturday from 9 AM to Noon.
    Buckets can be picked up at the main office. Go around the “mule barn” (the building that houses the public restrooms) or around the back of the office and back to the front to enter the main office entrance under the pergola with the Confederate Jasmine.

    Azeleas, dogwoods and pollen aren’t the only signs that spring has arrived in Savannah. So is the opening of the u-pick strawberry fields at the Bamboo Farm & Coastal Gardens.

    U-pick strawberries opened Mon. March 3, 2012. Call 912-921-5897 to confirm the fields are open for picking. Best time to pick is 9 AM, before it gets too hot and before the field is over-picked.

    HOURS; 9 AM-4 PM weekdays & 9 AM – NOON Saturdays.

    COST: $2 per pound.

    The gardens have picnic tables scattered around the grounds if you want to make a picnic out of your strawberry picking.
