Free kids' bike races 2013 in SavannahFREE kids’ bike races on Oct 26 & Oct 27 as part of the Savannah Superprestige Cyclocross Weekend at Oglethorpe Speedway Park in Pooler.

Kids are invited to take part in bike races which will be a short lap on the track. Ribbons for all.

Kids’ bike race will be 3:45 PM on Sat. Oct. 26 & 11:45 AM on Sun. Oct. 27 in between adult bike races at the track. Age range group for the kids’ bike races is up to age 9 at no charge. At age 10, children are required to race in juniors category.

FREE display of mini circus models @ the Savannah Mall, Oct. 11-13

Savannah Mall The Savannah Mall will celebrate the circus October 11-13 in the Center Court with an impressive display of miniature circus models created by artisans from Circus Model Builders International. Organized in 1936, Circus Model Builders International has more than 750 members in the United States, Canada and several other countries. The organization’s mission is to preserve the history and the memories of the circus by building and displaying circus models.

The Savannah Mall display will feature more than a dozen tables with works by members from around the East, including South Carolina and Coastal Georgia. The intricate models are all made by hand, with each piece taking several weeks to complete. Among the handmade miniature circus models on display will be a 1950 Ringling Brothers menagerie with replicas of wagons, circus animals and more.

Corn Maze
Poppell’s corn maze is intricate network of twists and turns carved into 10 acres of corn. It opens Oct. 5 2013.
Though the correct pathway can be walked in only 15 minutes, most wandering maze-goers will require about one hour to travel through more than three miles of twists, turns and decision points..

Savannah always has an exciting Oktoberfest on Riverstreet. This festival has everything you expect from beer garden, to Oompah band and the popular Wienerdog races.

Festival Hours: noon-11 pm Fri. Oct. 4, 10 AM-11 PM on Sat. Oct. 5, 10 noon-5 pm PM Sun. Oct. 6 2013 with free fireworks at 9:30 PM Fri. Oct. 4 & the annual Weiner Dog races happening Saturday morning Oct. 5.

It will be a wiener dog racing, bratwurst eating, Oompah dancing filled weekend as the Savannah Riverfront celebrates its 30th Annual Oktoberfest! Come down to Historic River Street to join the German festivities all weekend long from October 4-6.

Kick off the weekend with the opening ceremony and official cask tapping on Friday at 5pm. Don’t forget to stick around for First Friday Fireworks presented by Wet Willie’s at 9:30pm! Live Entertainment will take place on the Arbor Stage each night featuring headlining bands Eric Culberson and Brave Baby.

Enjoy a traditional beer garden offering a variety of German beverages and sing along with the Rhinelander’s Oompah Band! In honor of the 30th year, Savannah Riverfront will host an Oktoberfest themed triathlon. Das Rennen am River Street will feature River Street bars and restaurants competing in a beer stein race, a teenie weenie race, and a keg roll race throughout the weekend!

Don’t worry there is a competition for you too! The annual sausage eating contest presented by Roger Wood Foods and Ambos Seafood will take place on Saturday at 3:30pm. Cash prizes will be available and registration will take place the day of the event. 2013 Tybee Island Pirate Parade & Festival

Tybee Island Pirate Parade OctoberGet ready for swashbuckling fun: the 2013 Tybee Is. Pirate Festival – includes Live Music, Children’s Activities & a Pirate Victory Parade – is set for October 10-13.

Every Columbus Day weekend, Tybee Island transforms into a lively pirate village, celebrating the rich seafaring history that defines the Georgia coast with live music, children’s activities and a Pirate Victory Parade.

The free parade will be 3-5pm Sat. Oct 12. This parade is a must for families. Parade participants will pass out treasure along the route. Tybee Island Maritime Academy will be selling hot dogs, chips, and drinks before and after the parade in the school gym. Please help support this new school!

Highlights for the 2013 Tybee Island Pirate Festival include The Pirate Victory Parade, Scallywags Costume Contest, Little Matey’s Cove, Thieves’ Market and the new Landshark’s Mugs of Mutiny Tavern with live music. The festivities kick off with the coronation at the King and Queen at the Buccaneer Ball at The Crab Shack on Thursday, October 10.

All 2013 Pirate Festival events – with the exception of the parade – will be held at the South Beach parking lot located at Tybrisa Street on Tybee Island, Georgia.

Walk with your trickster down Oatland’s friendly forest trail to meet and gather goodies from our friendly animal characters.

Pumpkin Patches in Savannah, Hilton Head Is. Bluffton Come to the Hilton Head Island Pumpkin Patch! Bring your child in costume Friday, October 25 2013 to Shelter Cove Park, 39 Shelter Cove Ln, HHI, SC 29928 from 4pm-8pm to kick off your child’s Halloween fun.

This popular children’s festival features activities such as bouncy houses, a costume contest, petting zoo, games, arts and crafts, face painting, candy and a fun hayrack ride through the park. You can also hit the pumpkin patch to pick and decorate a mini jack-o’-lantern! Admission for ages 2-15 is $10/per child and includes nearly all the activities. Parents get in free to enjoy the fun and see their child’s face light up.

Savannah Mall summer sand sculpture and train ridesThis upcoming Labor Day weekend is your last chance to ride the kiddie train @ the 75-ton sand sculpture in the center court of Savannah Mall. The sculpture features a summer animal theme and incorporates some of the animals from the mall’s double-decker carousel.

Train rides are $2.

The last day to view the sand sculpture is Sept 8.
