St. Andrew’s School Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Kelley Waldron as the next Head of School for St. Andrew’s. After serving as Interim Head of School for the past several months, Dr. Waldron received unanimous support from both the Head of School Search Committee and the Board of Trustees.

Dr. Waldron has been a part of the St. Andrew’s community since 2002. In that time, she has served as Director of Admissions, Academic Dean of the Upper School, Director of Studies, International Baccalaureate Coordinator, Lower School Head, teacher, mentor and so much more.

Dr. Waldron is an alumna of Leadership Savannah, serves on the board of Savannah Horizons, is co-founder of Teach the Future Fellowship, and was selected as a 2015 Rising Star by Savannah Magazine.
Last year, in preparation for the Head of School search, the Board of Trustees compiled a profile for an ideal candidate to lead the school. The Search committee found Dr. Waldron to possess the qualifications and characteristics that St. Andrew’s needs to prepare all students for the world of tomorrow. She has a strong understanding of the St. Andrew’s mission and holds student welfare at the core of each decision. Her history of success in leadership roles and her position in the forefront of educational innovation make her an asset to the community.

Students & teachers @ St. Andrew’s School on Wilmington Island in Savannah know more about microplastics and the impact they can have on sea life, thanks to a program launched by Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant and funded by the Landings Landlovers, Inc.

The students and teachers participating in the program went on a trawl aboard the R/V Sea Dawg and collected, sorted, identified and counted the organisms they caught, including shrimp, blue crabs and fish. They also collected water samples and took those back to the Marine Education Center lab to examine for the presence and abundance of microplastics.

The Habersham School – illumination 2016

In the darkest hour of the middle ages, when famine and plague and war had brought many people, groups and budding nations to their lowest point, a Latin phrase, born out of Christian hope, emerged. Post Tenebras Lux: After darkness, Light.

This phrase would be the heart’s rallying cry towards the deeper truth that God is always working to bring about the restoration of His created world. Always.

Congratulations St. Andrew’s School on Wilmington Is. on receiving a grant for a garden program.

St. Andrew’s School was awarded $350 in grant funding from the Georgia Farm Bureau (GFB) Foundation to be utilized for the school’s outdoor learning space & garden project. The learning space, created four years ago, continues to expand into an area where students work & play on a daily basis.

The garden area has been used to grow vegetables for the school’s lunch provider; teach students agriculture concepts; promote good nutrition & exercise. The additional dollars from the GFB Foundation will be used to expand the hands-on learning opportunities across all disciplines.

Additional activities planned for the area include a water wall, a pulley & bucket system, a stone sculpture center plus enhanced seating for classroom discussions.

St. Andrew’s School in Savannah is pleased to announce the selection of Emily Rochefort as the new head coach for Girls Varsity Volleyball.

Rochefort graduated from Mercer University with a communications degree and a masters in Higher Education Leadership. She played both indoor and beach volleyball for the division I school as a scholarship recipient. At one point, Rochefort served as captain for both teams.
