Registration is open for the favorite holiday kids’ event – Savannah Santa Train – which will be Dec. 8 this year @ Georgia State Railroad Museum and Savannah Children’s Museum. 

Kids can a short ride on a steam locomotive, create holiday themed crafts with community partners, visit with jolly old St. Nicholas & much more.

To celebrate the tenth-annual event, there will be more workshops and special programming than ever before! Guests can build a holiday wonderland with Snapology, enjoy caroling from Savannah Stage Company, see and purchase handmade holiday spinning tops created by the Lowcountry Turners, create custom t-shirts with Maven Makers, enjoy performances from “A Charlie Brown Christmas” by Savannah Children’s Theatre and design holiday cards for hospital patients with Savannah Children’s Museum’s “Carts with heART” program.

Savannah Santa Train is hosted each year by Georgia State Railroad Museum and Savannah Children’s Museum.

Tickets are $15 per person for all guests eighteen months and up and pre-registration is required here. Train rides are available every twenty minutes, so please select a time to reserve your spot. Activities-Only tickets are also available for guests who do not wish to ride the train.

Other activities for visitors will include learning how to shoulder a musket during Toy Soldiers Training, festive holiday dancing with Three Fold Chord, engaging in STEAM learning to see how a chimney works during Chimney Science, celebrating different cultures during our “Holidays Around the World” scavenger hunt, taking a holiday-themed ride on a historic steam locomotive and sharing a Christmas wish with Santa Claus. The Salvation Army will also be bringing their mobile canteen with free donuts and coffee.

We love this Savannah tradition: ice skating inside the Savannah Civic Center.

Skatefest will be Sat. Dec. 7 2018 to Mon. Jan. 2 2019 @ the Savannah Civic Center.  There will be multiple sessions each day.

Single session tickets, including skate rental are $8 per person and 6 person punch passes are $40.

Ice skating sessions last 1.5 hours and all ticket purchases include skate rental.

Please note that all attendees must pay admittance to enter the skating area.

Bring your kids to the annual Gingerbread Village at The Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa.

The Gingerbread Village 2018 will be on display in the Westin Savannah lobby from Nov. 24 though at least Dec. 29, 2018.

FREE HOLIDAY PARKING

The City of Savannah typical offers a holiday parking deal every Thursday and Friday in starting Nov. 23 through Dec. 22.

The first three hours in any city-owned garage is free. Any time over three hours is the daily rate.

Garages included: Bryan Street, Liberty Street, Robinson garage on Montgomery Street, State Street Garage and the Whitaker Street Garage.

Details will eventually be posted on the City of Savannah Web site.

You’re invited to the 10th Annual Tybee Lighted Boat Parade on Fri. Dec 7 2018 at The Original Crab Shack on Tybee Is.

The event begins at 7PM with a Hot Dog & Chili Bar. The Hot Dog & Chili Bar is FREE for EVERYONE with a Second Harvest canned food donation.

Boats depart Crab Shack docks at approximately 7:30PM (Tybee Time). Boats return around 8:15PM
