About the Artist:
Jennifer Mack-Watkins is a contemporary visual artist whose artistic aesthetic draws from a confluence of reference points, most of which include her Japanese Mokuhanga printmaking techniques and her culturally rich southern roots. Her work has been acquired at prominent institutions including the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture, Library of Congress, The Met, The Getty Archives and she has been featured in publications such as The New York Times, Vogue and Essence. Jennifer holds a bachelor of arts in BA in studio arts from Morris Brown College, an MAT from Tufts University, and an MFA in Printmaking from Pratt Institute and is on the Board of Trustees at the Brattleboro museum. In 2022, Mack-Watkins completed her first children’s book illustration for Kokila/Random House titled You Gotta Meet Mr. Pierce!

Whether you have a budding actor, artist, or a child that loves to be creative, the Savannah Cultural Arts Center has a class for you! Beginning with Parent/Child movement for ages 2-3, there are classes for all ages through high school! New classes for youth include a Disney-based dance and movement class and teens also have new dance options, including hip hop and cultural dance classes!
Classes will begin the week of Jan. 9 2022.
Youth classes run for 6 weeks, teen classes run for 6 or 8 weeks, class dependent.

Scribble Art Studio’s after school art classes in Savannah teach foundational skills and self-expression. Art Classes for 2022-2023 begin Mon. Aug. 29 2022
These after-school art classes explore artmaking using a wide variety of materials and mediums including: design markers, tempera, acrylic and watercolor paints, printmaking and sculpture materials, collage, paper-making and more.
Classes begin Mon. Aug. 29th, 2022 and run through the end of the school year.
Cost for each block of five classes: $200 and includes all materials.

Abayomi doll making workshop with Aisha Sinclair Abayomi is a Yoruba word for “precious meeting.” During the transatlantic slave trade from Africa, mothers would often take pieces of cloth from their skirts and make these dolls to help keep hope and remember their children.
Learn to make your own in this featured Juneteenth studio program open to all ages.
Hands-on artmaking and inflatable art demonstrations from 1–4PM. Telfair offers a back-to-school family event with activities based on the museum’s exhibition of large-scale inflatable art.
The event will include balloon and sculpture activities, inflatable art by local artists, and bouncy house fun in Telfair Square.

Telfair Museums now offers local residents free weekend admission to the Jepson Center and Telfair Academy April 2 – August 28 2022.
Residents are invited to explore the largest museum exhibition of work by African American artist, William O. Golding, in The Art of William O. Golding: Hard Knocks, Hardships, and Lots of Experience on view at the Jepson Center, along with other featured exhibitions free of charge.
Free weekend admission includes residents of the following counties:
-Chatham
-Bryan
-Effingham
-Liberty (Georgia)
-Beaufort (South Carolina)
-Jasper (South Carolina)
Note that registration is currently open for City of Savannah residents. Other registrations will be added to a waiting list and contacted about available space starting two weeks before the start of camp.

Registration is officially open for Spring Break Arts Camp 2022 @ Savannah Cultural Arts Center.
Arts Through the Ages camp will engage 3rd through 6th grade students in a variety of projects, activities, and art history, providing a creative spark and a whole lot of fun! Elements across both performing and visual arts will be included.
This is a half day camp that runs 9AM-1PM (with an hour on each end for drop off and pick up). Camp is open to current 3rd through 6th graders.
