Youth and teens can unleash their creativity in a fun and engaging clay class in the new year! In youth clay, students will learn fundamental hand building techniques while creating fun and imaginative pieces. In teen clay, students will learn a mix of hand building, skill-building, and experimental projects.

Free museum admission for Savannah Residents – Second Sunday, all day
SCAD MOA in Savannah welcomes our Savannah community to enjoy free admission on the second Sunday of every month. Residents of Savannah or any of its surrounding counties (Chatham, Bryan, Effingham, Liberty, Beaufort, and Jasper) are invited to visit free of charge.
A new term of arts classes at the Savannah Cultural Arts Center start back January 6th! Choose from offerings in dance, painting, clay and more for kids and teens ages 2-18.

Short train rides will be offered at Savannah’s Georgia State Railroad Museum – which is located next door to Savannah Children’s Museum and across Louisville Road from Savannah History Museum- Dec. 26-Dec. 30 2024.

Youth can tap their way into a fun tap dance class at the Savannah Cultural Arts Center this winter! These classes are great for kids who love to dance or want to learn a new skill.
Youth Tap Dance – Ages 9-13, Tuesdays 1:30-2:30pm
Students will have fun exploring ways to make music with their feet, playing with rhythm and dynamics.
Exploring Ballet and Tap – Ages 7-9, Saturdays 12:00-1:00pm
Young dancers learn the basics of ballet and tap in a fun, supportive class that includes warm-ups, basic techniques, and choreography designed to build coordination, rhythm, and self-expression.
Kids aged 6 to 8 can join us for a fun holiday workshop on Thursday, December 19 from 5-6pm! They will have fun learning about Hanukkah and the history of the dreidel with hands-on art activities.

Here’s a chance for Savannah middle and high school students to meet and hear insights from DeKalb County CEO and historian Michael Thurmond. This would be an stimulating FREE local event for students to receive extra credit for attending.
The 2024-2025 Georgia History Festival lecture will feature Michael Thurmond, DeKalb County CEO, historian, former Commissioner of Labor, and former member of the Georgia General Assembly on Thurs. Nov. 14, 6PM.
This engaging lecture will highlight the founding of the Georgia colony under the leadership of General James Edward Oglethorpe and examines Oglethorpe’s philosophical and moral evolution from slave trader to abolitionist. Mr. Thurmond is also the author of Freedom: Georgia’s Antislavery Heritage, 1733-1865 and A Story Untold: Black Men and Women in Athens History.
Location: The lecture will take place at Christ Church Episcopal, 28 Bull Street, in Savannah.
Cost: Free and open to the public.
