The museum’s popular Juneteenth Free Family Day will June 9 2018 featuring a presentation of culture, storytelling and performance at the Jepson Center, from 1-4PM.

This year’s event includes drumming, family-friendly activities and crafts, and a special performance by the Gullah Geechee Ring Shouters.

2018 marks the twelfth year of Juneteenth celebrations at Telfair Museums. A commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States, the community gathering is one of the museum’s biggest events, with hundreds of people attending each year to celebrate and learn more about this unique part of Savannah’s history.
