On Wednesday, February 11 at 10AM, Kindermusik Savannah will host their monthly playdate for ages 0-7. This month’s theme is “Love Somebody” and all the songs will be centered around a sweet love theme for you and your little one.

All participants will receive an instrument/prop, 10 Kindermusik songs and a BONUS gift at the end of class.  Admission is $15.00 per child and siblings pay only $5.

WCWM? (What Can We Make?)
Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays / 1-4 PM
Jepson Center’s Melaver Studio
The studios are open for drop-in visits for all ages. No need to pre-register. Free to members or with museum admission. Open to adults and children accompanied by an adult caregiver. More info available here. 
Join Jepson Center as they open the studios for drop in visits for all ages. wcwm? (What Can We Make?) focuses on developing problem-solving and critical thinking skills through imagination. Explore your creative side with inspiring activities utilizing recycled materials, found objects, and traditional art supplies. In addition to the wcwm? project kits, the studios provide watercolor and collage opportunities as well. More info here. 

Saturday What Can We Make Factory Project
Saturdays, March 1- May 17, 1-4 pm Jepson Center for the Arts
Participate in the Andy Warhol Factory experience at the Jepson Center. A significant element of Andy Warhol’s silkscreens was his use of the same image over and over again. Guests can experiment with Andy Warhol’s exploration of pop culture, experience screenprinting, and take home their own serial creation.

Telfair encourages guests to drop in at the studio between 1-4 pm to work with assistants to screenprint Andy Warhol Flowers. All ages are welcome. Regular admission applies.

Telfair Museums is excited to introduce its newest program for the stroller set! Join Telfair Museums for a monthly gathering where parents & caregivers can enjoy a morning at the museum while also engaging infants with art. Babies thrive on dynamic environments, so each month we’ll explore a different set of artwork. There will be touchable toys for the little ones, adult conversation for you & like-minded art lovers. Finish your visit with a leisurely talk over complimentary coffee & tea in Telfair Museum’s café. Strollers, crying & older siblings are all welcome here.

WOMEN ARTISTS – JUNE 18
Parent and child explore works by local women artists of the past. How do you translate the people, places, and things around you into a work of art? Make connections with landscapes, portraits and still life paintings for visual learning.

LIFE’S A BEACH – JULY 16
Jump into Martin Parr’s photographs of beaches around the world and compare them to the beach we have right down the road. Parr believes that a beach is a place where quirky behaviors can be found, so come explore coastal life through a different lens.

I LOVE THE 90’S – AUGUST 20
Go back to the 90’s and see how artists translated social issues through a variety of media. Focus on line, shape, and color in order to read artwork and objects.

Girls Engineer It Day 2015, Savannah, Feb. 21

Girls Engineer It Day Savannah Attention parents of STEM enthusiasts!

Society of Women Engineers invite 6-12th grade students and friends to attend the 4th annual Girls Engineer It Day, Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015, 1-5:30pm @ Woodville-Tompkins Tech & Career HS, 151 Coach Joe Turner St., Savannah. Driving directions here

This is limited to the first 100 MS & 100 HS students to register. Don’t delay as this event always sells out.

2015 scholarship information for $1000 for one graduating senior. Application is due April 3rd, 2015.

This event is focused on teaching hands-on STEM activities to let kids decide if Engineering/STEM is a career path they would consider in their future.

Students will go through 3 activities focused on different kinds of engineering taught by local technologists. Events include: a STEM Expo which are small activities provided by local companies, surrounding universities, and professional organizations; then students break into groups to begin the 3 activities (1 hr a piece).

While the students are learning, there is a separate event for the adults. Adults will be educated on everything they might need to keep the students interested in STEM, college prep, financial aid, even community opportunities for internships.

Adults will learn their own STEM activity that they will be able to take home to teach the students what they learned.

Cost: $5 a student. The event is limited to 200 students (100 middle and 100 high school). This event sells out every year.

This is promoted as a female event, but males are allowed and attend every year. More details here.
