Free kids’ events in Savannah: Pulse Art + Technology Festival @ Jepson Center

Pulse 2014 SavannahTelfair Museums’ PULSE Art + Technology Festival offers wildly inventive, interactive technology-based art. The free, five-day celebration invites the public to participate in amazing interactive art experiences and hands-on workshops. PULSE is fun for all ages and includes family day brimming with activities, artists’ demonstrations and performances.

Pulse Festival changes due to Savannah winter storm

The upcoming winter storm has forced Telfair Museums to change the schedule for its Pulse Art + Technology Festival.

Telfair Museums, which is comprised of the Jepson Center for the Arts, the Owens-Thomas House, and the Telfair Academy, will close at 3 p.m. Jan. 28. All three sites will remain closed Jan. 29 and will re-open at 10 a.m. Jan. 30.

The PULSE Art + Technology Festival at the Jepson Center (207 W. York St. plus events at various other local venues) will open Jan. 30 and the free five-day event has been extended through Feb. 3. Telfair Museums will be open from noon-5 p.m. Feb. 3.

Most PULSE events will continue as scheduled, but the opening lecture and reception will be added to the lineup for the evening of Jan. 30.

Jan. 30
11 a.m.: Student panel featuring PULSE artists Cuppetelli and Mendoza, with Rafaël Rozendaal
6 p.m.: PULSE lecture by Rafaël Rozendaal
6-8 p.m.: Projections by Rafaël Rozendaal
7 p.m.: PULSE opening reception and performance by Chalaxy, a psychedelic alternative rock band from Nashville, Tenn.

Jan. 31
11 a.m.: Student panel with PULSE artists
6 p.m.: Concert by Adam Matta
6-8 p.m.: Performance by the Medeology Collective

Feb. 1
10 a.m.: “Make your own GIF” student workshop with artist Erin McNeil
1-4 p.m.: Family Day and expo; includes 3 p.m performance by Invisible
6 p.m.: Performance by KidSyc and the NekstUp Team presenting “The Fewchurr”
6-8 p.m.: “Bring Your Own Beamer” projections by PULSE artists

Feb. 2
12 p.m.: PULSE gallery tour with curator Harry DeLorme
1-4 p.m.: Medeology Collective performance at Indigo Sky Community Gallery, 915 Waters Ave.
