You’re invited to the FREE Sixth Annual Juneteenth Celebration @ Telfair Museums’ Jepson Center!
Saturday, June 15 | 1-4 pm | Jepson Center @ 207 W. York St., Savannah 31401
This historic FREE event celebrates Freedom Day (or Emancipation Day), and commemorates the 1865 announcement of the abolition of slavery in Texas, the last state to do so. The celebration will include storytelling, hands on activities for families, a performance by the African Spirit (Jamal Toure) and a rare demonstration of Geechee Gullah culture by the Georgia Geechee Gullah Ring Shouters of Darien.

Family Days are fun, educational and FREE! Enjoy hands on art projects, gallery exploration activities, story time and much more designed specifically for the entire family! Create DIY masterpieces, play art detective, or explore the ArtZeum, an interactive arts space. With gallery activities on our mobile Art Cart, everyone can get in on the art and the action. Each month will feature a different theme based on the museum’s changing exhibitions. Come for a little while or stay for the entire afternoon-it’s all FREE.
