Free kids’ events at Skidaway Island State Park Savannah

Interpretive Center hours: Wednesday-Sunday 10 AM-5 PM
Come see the display of the Giant Ground Sloth replica, wildlife exhibits, live reptiles and birding station. Programs listed below meet promptly at the Interpretive Center unless otherwise noted. More info here.

Wed. Oct. 19:
7:30 AM Bird Walk: Come meet Camphost Kathy and join her on a walk to
observe birds of the saltwater marsh and maritime forest. Bring binoculars and
bird guide (also available to borrow).
2 PM Knot Tying: Come learn
some handy knots for everyday use.
3 PM Sandpiper Trail Hike: Come for a 1.5-mile walk to learn about native plants
and animals that inhabit the marsh.

WED OCT 19 is also deadline to register for trick-or-treating in the park on Sat. Oct. 22.

Thurs. Oct. 20:
2 PM Historical Walk: Come for a 2-3 mile walk and learn about history behind the access to
Skidaway Island. Meet at Big Ferry Trail

Fri. Oct. 21:

1 PM The Buried History of Skidaway: Learn all
about the exciting archeological and paleontological discoveries on the island.

3 PM
Roving Ranger:
Ask the roving Ranger any questions and see our creature of
the day.

7:30 PM
Frog Hike:
Come see and hear frogs at night.  Meet at the Big Ferry Trail Entrance.

Sat. Oct. 22:

FALL-O-WEEN FESTIVAL

2 PM -5:30 PM: Come out for an afternoon of spooktacular kids crafts, a pumpkin decorating contest and family fun games.

2 PM-5 PM: Take a hayride through the park. $2 per person

5:30-7 PM: Join us for trick-or-treating throughout the campgrounds.
Register before October 19 for trick-or-treating.

Sun. Oct. 23:

11 AM Feeding Show: Learn what our animals eat and watch as they enjoy their lunch. 

3 PM Fire Building: Come learn how to build a fire using different fire starting techniques.

4 PM Wilderness Survival: We will talk about lost prevention and show you simple items to take with you on a hike.
