Calling all homeschooling families! Amplify your student’s artist journey with an enriching workshop at the SCAD Museum of Art. In this immersive experience, education and creativity collide to offer a field study for homeschooled students.
This event presents a unique opportunity for your students to acclimate into the art world as observers and creators. While they feed their creative minds among the exhibitions, they’ll meet other students and foster lasting community connections.

Drawing Club (Wednesdays 4 p.m.) – Nov 5, Nov 12
Let your imagination run wild at this weekly drawing workshop for aspiring creatives focusing on the basic principles of art and design. Seek inspiration in the galleries, meet new friends, and begin preparing a portfolio of your work as museum educators offer tutorials to perfect your drawing skills.
This workshop for middle school and high school students is free and open to the public.

Mini Masters (Monday 11am-12pm) – Nov 17, Dec 15
Calling all little creatives! Embark on a journey of artistic expression, discovery, and exploration with SCAD MOA educators. Join us every third Monday for imaginative activities designed especially for children and inspired by our latest exhibitions. While enjoying art projects, gallery visits, and snack time, your budding geniuses (and you) can form new friendships.
Mini Masters Monday is programmed for children ages 1–4. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Admission is $5 per child. Mini Masters memberships are also available to families at $25 for 12 months (a savings of $45) and include complimentary admission to Mini Masters Mondays in addition to individual museum membership benefits.

Seeking a sweet way to spice up Thanksgiving break? Skip the shopping and get creative with confections! The SCAD Museum of Art welcomes you to decorate cookies at TAD café. First, explore the galleries to inspire your confectionary creations. Then, learn cookie crafting techniques from associate curator and edible art extraordinaire Brittany Richmond. Enjoy holiday treats as you create your own baked goods to take home or gift to that special (hungry) someone. This workshop is intended for middle school-aged students. Drop off begins at 8:45 a.m. A museum educator will be stationed at the Turner Blvd. entrance under the glass tower from 8:45 to 9 a.m. for your convenience.

Enjoy Halloween arts & crafts, Halloween storytime followed by pumpkin dissection to learn about the pumpkin life cycle, Trick or Treating with Tippy the Tortoise, ending with a Costume Parade.
Followed by Farm Friday when there will be a Halloween Tea with mint from the museum garden at about 11:30AM. Museum staff will be in Alice in Wonderland costume for the Halloween tea.

iNaturalist 101: 11AM Friday Oct. 10. Are you an iNaturalist user? Learn how to use this powerful citizen science tool. We will show you how to use the smartphone applications to make observations, suggest identifications, explore wildlife in the local area, and more! $5 parking. 912-598-2300.
Archery*: Saturday Oct. 4, Sunday Oct. 12, Saturday Oct. 18 10am-Noon. Hour-long slots available during the hours listed. Learn the basics of archery and test your skills on the range. This program will cover basic safety and technique. Equipment provided. Participants must be at least 10 years old. $10 per person. Please call the Visitor Center to reserve your hour in advance. *Diamondback Terrapins 3PM Saturday. Oct. 4. The diamondback terrapin is the only turtle that lives specifically in brackish water. It is a keystone species in the saltmarsh ecosystem. Come join us for a closer look at this jewel of the marsh. Meet in the Interpretive Center for a 30-minute program and see our two live diamondback terrapins. $5 parking. 912-598-2300.
Fungi Friday Hike, 10AM Friday Oct. 3: Have you ever wondered how and why mushrooms grow the way they do? Join our interpretive ranger to learn more as we find and identify fungi on and near the trails. Be sure to bring your smartphone or camera! Meet at the Big Ferry Trailhead. 1-2 mile hike.
Picnic at the Point, Noon, Sunday, Oct. 26. Pack a lunch and join us for a laid-back hike to the picnic area at the intersection of the Avian Loop and Connector Trail. Meet at the Sandpiper Trailhead at 12:00 PM. The total distance is approximately 2 miles, with a break at the Skidaway Narrows to eat lunch and chat as we enjoy the view. $5 parking. 912-598-2300.

Come by the Interpretive Center to learn all about one of our ambassador snakes: This month, we will feature one of the corn snakes & the eastern king snake. Unboxing the Box Turtle: 3PM Friday Oct. 10, Tuesday Oct. 14. Come meet some of our most elusive residents, the box turtles, and learn about their habits and amazing characteristics. Meet in the Interpretive Center.
