This is a program for children 5-7 years of age. This program will introduce the sport of sailing to water loving children. Summer “Catch the Wind” Full-Day Camp for ages 8 & older
“Catch the Wind” summer camp program is designed for kids ages 8 and older of all abilities and skill levels. The classes are structured to allow for maximum sailing time and personal attention. Beginners participate in a small 8ft Optimist or 15ft Sunfish sailboat, depending on their size. Those with more experience can sail in a 2-person 420 sailboat, also used for high school and college sailing. The summer camp instructors follow the US Sailing curriculum and skills learned are documented with the US Sailing certification record book.

Savannah Children’s Museum invites the public to attend Bug Fest 2019, the annual family-friendly celebration buzzing with bug themed crafts, activities and workshops.

The event will be Sat. May 25 2019, 10AM-2PM @ Savannah Children’s Museum, 655 Louisville Rd. Savannah, GA 31401.

This year, attendees can learn about the importance of bees and other natural pollinators with the Coastal Empire Beekeepers Association, enter the Insectarium with Georgia Southern University’s Armstrong Campus Entomology class, meet some friendly reptiles from Georgia Reptile Society, while learning about their healthy diet of bugs, build your own insects with Snapology, discover bug biology and how insects play a vital role in Savannah’s waterways with Ogeechee Riverkeeper and enjoy bug-themed Zumbini at 11AM and 1PM.

Telfair Teen Arts Council presents Luminous, a free after-hours museum experience exclusively for high school students.

This event kicks off summer with color- and light-themed activities from 6-8PM on Sat. May 18 at Telfair Museums’ Jepson Center in downtown Savannah.

Defined as a shedding light that is bright or shining, especially in the dark, Luminous is an interactive experience in a
colorful, light-infused atmosphere that allows teenagers to immerse themselves in the world of modern art.

Students explore colors and light in a distinct perspective through activities such as photo ops, performances, black light art projects, and a scavenger hunt based on current exhibitions at the Jepson Center. Light refreshments will be served, and the event will hold a raffle with prizes for several winners.

The Telfair Teen Arts Council is a group of 11th- and 12th -grade students who unite through innovative, collaborative
experiences through exposure to the behind-the-scenes operations of an art museum and create greater opportunities
in Savannah’s community for teens.

The Humane Society for Greater Savannah’s 19th Annual Doggie Carnival is Sun. May 5 2019, noon-4PM in Forsyth Park.

This family & canine friendly festival features fun for all.

Admission to the carnival is free but there is a cost for activities. Proceeds benefit the Humane Society for Greater Savannah.

Enjoy an afternoon of activities including a dunk tank, doggie derby, professional photography and a pet caricature booth, dog-watching.

Food trucks, snack booths and sweet treats around the park available for purchase. There will be beer for the 21 and over crowd.
