Pottery camp at Savannah’s Clay Spot is a unique opportunity for children to work as actual artist in a professional ceramic studio. Each week young students will learn a variety of ceramic techniques. Children will create on the potter’s wheel and use several hand building methods as they unleash their imaginations as they create wonderful works of art. Each camp will have an inspirational theme and will be different each week, giving the opportunity for children to be involved in multiple camps.

You-Pick Strawberry fields are open @ Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens Savannah.
The u-pick fields are open Mon.-Thurs. and Saturday. (no picking on Fridays or Sundays), 9AM-1PM or until the field is picked clean (whichever occurs first) U-pick strawberries are $2.50 per pound. Shop for jam, jellies & preserves, too.
Call 912-921-5460 to learn the status of the field prior to arriving, as poor weather or large crowds may pick the field clean well before the 1 pm scheduled closing.
The best time to pick is first thing in the morning at 9 am (as it is cooler, too).
No pets allowed in the fruit picking fields during your harvest. Children must be supervised to prevent plant trampling. You are responsible to pay for all fruits (ripe or unripe) picked during a visit.

Armstrong State University and the City of Savannah’s Department of Cultural Affairs present the 2016 Savannah Asian Cultural Festival on April 15th and 16th.
All events will take place at Armstrong’s campus at 11935 Abercorn St. in Savannah, 31419.
The 21st Annual Savannah Asian Cultural Festival will bring the continent of Asia to coastal Georgia, celebrate the rich diversity of the area and feature unique cultures, cuisine, live performances and more.
20th Anniversary Celebration of Asian cultural arts featuring live music and dance from seven Asian countries
This special 20th anniversary event will be opened by Linda Bleicken, President of Armstrong State University, and by dignitaries from the City of Savannah’s government officials and staff from the city’s Office of Cultural Affairs.
The evening indoor performance on the Fine Arts Auditorium Stage will showcase Asia dances, martial arts and instrumental and vocal music with each performer dressed in traditional clothing from their home country. In additional to using local performers of Asian heritage from China, India, The Philippines, South Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam, we are excited to showcase the beautiful Chinese dances by Kaidi Li from New York City, Korean dancers with exotic costumes, and traditional Chinese music with the Erhu, an native instrument somewhat related to the violin. Another highlight will be performances by the very popular Taiko Japanese Drummers who based based in Tampa, Florida. Closing out the performance will be the very popular Dragon dancers in Vietnamese style.

Crossfit Hyperformance Youth Camp increases kids confidence and sports performance.
CrossFit Hyperformance Kids uses a combination of games, skill practice, and team work to build strength and conditioning in children. Classes include elements of gymnastics, weight lifting, body weight movements, running, jump roping and more. The goal is to make fitness FUN.

The 2016 Child in Nature Symposium @ Oatland Island Wildlife Center in Savannah will be Fri. April 8 & Sat. April, 9.
This event will include: a free teacher program; a free parent/community member program & a children’s program.
The second annual Child In Nature Symposium will be at Oatland Island Fri. April 8, 4PM-7PM & Sat. April 9, 9AM-1PM.
The Symposium is a collaborative effort between Charles Ellis Montessori Academy and PTA, St. Andrew’s School, the Oatland Island Wildlife Center, & the Montessori Education Society of Savannah (MESS).
The focus of this year’s symposium is Recovery of a Nature Language.
Friday for teachers & educators
On Friday afternoon, sessions will be held for teachers and educators that focus on engaging children in nature.
Saturday for parents & children
On Saturday morning, Dr. Pat Pritchard from Wesleyan College will present a keynote address for parents, teachers, and community members, and then everyone is invited to participate in workshops on topics that include Savannah area outdoor resources, nature journaling, school garden curriculum, outdoor navigation with map and compass, and creative ways to engage your children with nature.
An exciting program for children will also be offered on Saturday, led by Oatland naturalist Michelle Kelly.

Have you even seen faces or shapes in the clouds? At this year’s Child in Nature Symposium our children will be hiking Oatland’s trails with Naturalist Michelle Kelly and will be looking for hidden faces in trees and then accentuate them by sculpting on the tree with air dry clay and natural objects found on site. The Jacks of the wood will be peeping through the forest after we have hiked through! We will end our hike at our new mud kitchen, located in the garden, and will whip up some imaginary recipes of hickory pies and acorn stews.
