Jewel Conservatory Theatre in Rincon offers FREE Carnegie Hall & Savannah Music Festival’s Musical Explorers program for ages 5-7

Thursday, September 11th, 2014

Musical Explorers Program at Jewel Conservatory TheatreThe Carnegie Hall & Savannah Musical Festival program – Musical Explorers  – is coming to The Jewel Conservatory Theatre in Rincon.

Musical Explorers is an excellent program for 5-7 year olds that lasts from October to May. In the class, students will discover different types of local music, learn silly songs & discover instruments like piano & the recorder.

Participation in the program includes tickets to both the winter & spring Savannah Music Festival Concerts. Both concerts are experiential, meaning students will get to meet & sing along with singers that they will be learning about through the class!

As the first pilot effort affiliated with the program founded by the esteemed Weill Music Institute at Carnegie Hall in New York City, Savannah Music Festival has developed a new multimedia curriculum & course of study that includes December & May concert field trips for participating students.

Originally designed as a music education program that provides historical, cultural & geographical knowledge about the various communities of New York’s five boroughs, Musical Explorers has been adapted by Savannah Music Festival to apply similar lessons & learning practices to the Georgia coast & South Carolina Lowcountry.

The Jewel Conservatory Theatre in Rincon is so excited to be able to offer this exciting program to your kids. Classes will be 45 minutes long & will be at the theatre on Tuesdays at 5 p.m.

Classes will run October 21st, 2014-May 12th, 2015, meeting on Tuesdays at 5 PM. Classes are free.

**There are some Tuesdays that the class will not meet due to holidays: November 25th,  December 23rd and 30th, January 13th**

In December, all participants will travel to downtown Savannah to see the McIntosh County Shouters, Jimmy Wolling Band & Kim Polote perform at the Lucas Theatre for the Arts.

In Spring of 2015, participating kids will see performances by Rebecca Flaherty, Huxsie Scott & Eric Culberson at Armstrong State University’s Fine Arts Auditorium.
