Here’s a FREE fun Friday activity to do with the kids: Trinity United Methodist Church’s “Fall Fridays Noon-Time Concert Series” in Savannah.

The five 30-minute concerts  – which are open to the public – will be on Fridays from October 17 to November 14.

Performances start at 12:15 p.m. in the sanctuary of Trinity, 225 W. President Street.

Complimentary lemonade and PERC Coffee will be served afterward.

The concerts feature a variety of professional, working musicians, many of whom are members of the Savannah Philharmonic Orchestra and are professional recording artists, and university professors. Performances will be recorded and possibly used for programming on Georgia Public Broadcasting.

One performance will spotlight the theremin, an electronic instrument associated with the music of 1940s and 1950s sci-fi films.

Skidaway Island Rotarians join with The Village Library and The Landings Art Association to bring you the Annual Fall Festival in The Village on Skidaway Island on October 25, 2014, 10:30am to 3:00pm.

Special events during the festival include a Corvette Car show hosted by the Costal Corvette Association. The Library will host a books sale and face painting for children. The Landings Art Association will host a large Art Show along Skidaway Village Walk.

SouthCoast Health, the Savannah-based medical organization formerly known as SouthCoast Medical Group, will host a community breast health awareness seminar in observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month on Tuesday, Oct. 21 at 6:30 p.m.

The free event, held at the practice’s Richmond Hill medical campus (89 Interchange Drive), will include a discussion on the latest advancements in 3D mammography technology. SouthCoast Health is one of the first practices in Georgia to offer this innovative service.

Family medicine specialist, Dr. Regina Dandy, obstetrician/gynecologist, Dr. Neil Odom, and family nurse practitioner, Nanci Ahearn, will be available to answer questions and provide health and wellness information for women of all ages during the seminar. Light refreshments will also be served.

3D mammography, also known as breast tomosynthesis, has become the new standard in breast cancer screenings. This technique involves the digital production of a 3D image of the breast tissue, which allows physicians to examine the area in fine detail without the confusion of overlapping tissue. Recent studies have shown that the use of this technology has led to a 41 percent increase in the detection of invasive breast cancers, a 29 percent increase in the detection of all breast cancers, and a 15 percent decrease in the number of false positive callbacks.

Lake Mayer Park: 1850 E Montgomery Cross Rd, Savannah, 31406
Presented by the Kicklighter Academy for their fight against autism.
Monsters and Heroes alike are invited to this costume 5K. Running around the Lake Mayer Park on a special mission. Proceeds benefit families affected by autism working with the Kicklighter Resource Center. Optional Eat the Peep Challenge available for the Monster in you. Race includes the Kicklighter Puzzle Piece finisher Medal, post race refreshments and T-Shirt.
