YMCA’s Heart of Savannah, Survivor’s Walk & FREE Kid’s Run, Sept. 20 2014

Race Proceeds benefit the Y’s newest program LIVESTRONG at the YMCA
Join the YMCA of Coastal Georgia for the 25th Annual Heart of Savannah 5K September 20, 2014 in Forsyth Park, Savannah.

Come for the race and stay for a fun family style YMCA party! This year’s event will feature a 5K Run, 1 Mile Survivors walk and a FREE 1/4 mile kid’s run.

The kids’ race (free to all registered children) begins at 8:40 AM, followed by the 5K/1 Mile Walk at 9 AM.

This is the first time the race will include a Survivor’s Walk, this has been added to the race because all of the proceeds from the event will support the Y’s newest program, LIVESTRONG at the Y. This is a free 12 week program, to help local cancer survivors regain their physical and mental strength after treatment through exercise programs specifically for cancer survivors. The 1 Mile Survivor’s Walk will take place to celebrate life and hope.

The race will start and finish in the northeast corner of the park on Gaston Street and wind around the park and then down Bull Street through Savannah’s historic squares down to Johnson Square and back up Bull Street to the Park.

After the race, a YMCA style party will be held with activities like Zumba in the park, face painting, Inflatables for the kids and so much more! Bring the family; there will be something for everyone!
