Inaugural Shamrock Ships Flotilla, Savannah

Here’s a new, socially-distanced way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Savannah in 2021: a boat parade from Hogan’s Marina through Thunderbolt then passing a socially distanced, limited capacity Irish-themed, family-friendly watch party at the Savannah Convention Center on Wed. March 17 2021.

PARADE ROUTE
The Parade will assemble from Turners Creek, through Thunderbolt, around Elba Island and proceed to the Savannah Convention Center. The goal is to pass the Savannah Convention Center 1-3PM.

AAA is teaming up with Safe Kids to give free bike helmets to children in Savannah this Sat. July 11 2020, 10AM-Noon.

The public can pick up a free helmet for children 14-years-old or younger at AAA Savannah Branch 712 Mall Blvd. this Sat. July 11, 10AM-noon.

Participants must register in advance HERE.

When arriving at the drive-thru pickup, people must stay in their cars and children must be present.

The Fourth of July fireworks and Fourth of July parade at Harbour Town on Hilton Head Is. are not taking place this year, neither are the fireworks at Shelter Cove Harbour & Marina on Hilton Head Is.

Join Atlanta’s National Center for Civil and Human Rights online this Thurs. April 23 2020 at 10:30AM for a virtual story time in partnership with Theatrical Outfit.

This session, we are reading Our House is On Fire: Greta Thunberg’s Call to Save the Planet by Jeanette Winter. This children’s book recounts Greta Thunberg’s journey as a young climate activist who has sparked a worldwide student movement and is demanding action from world leaders who refuse to address climate change.

This virtual story time is recommended for children 10 and younger.

Hurricane discounts freebies dorian Atlanta braves Mandatory evacuations are pricey.

Here are some discounts to help save money for those evacuating to the Atlanta area during Hurricane Dorian.

FREE college football tickets: Georgia State is offering Dorian evacuees free tickets to this Saturday Sept. 7’s football home opener against Furman @ 7PM inside Georgia State Stadium. Free tickets are available to residents of Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina who have been displaced due to mandatory evacuations in anticipation of Hurricane Dorian. Residents who show a valid driver’s license from the specific coastal zip codes that are under a mandatory evacuation will be eligible to take advantage of this offer. Up to four (4) complimentary tickets can be claimed at the Georgia State Stadium Office windows – while supplies last – beginning at 9AM Thurs. Sept. 5 through kickoff on Sat. Sept. 7. Children 10 & younger are free. Learn more here.

FREE Braves ticketsFree Braves tickets to residents of Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas who received mandatory evacuation orders. Two games this week are open to evacuees of Hurricane Dorian:
Tues. Sept. 3 7:20PM, Braves vs. Toronto Blue Jays
Thurs. Sept. 5 7:20PM Braves vs. Washington Nationals
Tickets can be claimed @ SunTrust Park ticket booths, while supplies last, starting at noon on both days. Anyone with a valid ID showing one of the specific coastal zip codes under mandatory evacuation is eligible for the free tickets. One ticket per person with ID. Everyone in the group, including children, must be at the ticket window to claim their ticket. (Children 2 & younger do not need a ticket.) Details here. 

LEGOLAND discount: LEGOLAND Discovery Center Atlanta is offering half off admission to Hurricane Dorian evacuees on Tues. Sept. 3 to Fri. Sept. 6.

$3 Discount at Children’s Museum of Atlanta:  Children’s Museum of Atlanta is offering a $3 discount on admission to Hurricane Dorian evacuees from Florida, Georgia and South Carolina Thurs. Sept. 5 & Fri. Sept. 6. (Museum is closed Wednesday) The attraction hopes to provide those impacted by the storm with an educational escape where children and families can experience the power of play. Guests will also have the opportunity to participate in the highly-interactive exhibit based on Disney Junior’s Peabody Award-winning television series, “Doc McStuffins.” This offer is valid for walk-up guests only with proper identification from an evacuated area.

Discounts @ Georgia State Parks: Georgia’s State Park welcomes evacuees and their pets, including horses at parks with equestrian facilities. All cottages and campsites will allow pets during this time. Pet fees will be waived. Campsites and cottages are available at regular rates, and “dry camping” is free during this emergency event. Chattanooga, Tenn. 

The Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga is offering half-price tickets to the aquarium and the IMAX theater for evacuees from Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas. The offer is available through Friday. Residents will need to present a driver’s license at the ticketing center.

VIDEO GAME DESIGN I-II
Campers will learn the basic principles of video game design, and will use real software development tools to create a functional (and fun!) video game. Video Game Design I & II will each be offered twice.

ROBOTICS I-II
Campers will learn the basic principles of robotics and automation, working with a variety of technologies to create and program functional robot vehicles. Each student will get to keep their own kit. Robotics I & II will each be offered twice.

MINECRAFT I-IV
Perfect for younger campers, this camp uses Minecraft to teach a variety of subjects, from electronic circuits to art to economics.

FREEPLAY GAMING
Available just before the start of the summer session. It’s not a class. It’s just playing games and having fun. All day long. All week long.

The program addresses our Earth’s vital need for bio-diversity. Features the physical adaptations of nocturnal owls, and bats, including an opportunity to see these live birds in person.
