Free, lottery-funded Pre-K for 2017-2018 school year

The free, state-funded Pre-K at some Savannah-Chatham public schools is open to all children who are 4 years old on or before Sept. 1 residing in Chatham County.

The Savannah-Chatham County Public School System has 60 Georgia Lottery funded Pre-K classes with additional classes at Coastal Empire Montessori.  See the list of Savannah-Chatham public schools that offer the free Pre-K here.

Pre-K applications for the free, lottery-funded Pre-K programs for 2017-18 at Savannah-Chatham County public schools will be available online here starting Feb. 21 2017 until March 6 2017. Applications & required documents are due March 7 2017. The lottery will be April 4 2017.

The deadline to submit required documents to one of the selected schools is March 7, 2017. Applications cannot be processed without these documents.

This free, state-funded Pre-K is open to all children who are 4 years old on or by Sept. 1. Details here.

St. Andrew’s School Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Kelley Waldron as the next Head of School for St. Andrew’s. After serving as Interim Head of School for the past several months, Dr. Waldron received unanimous support from both the Head of School Search Committee and the Board of Trustees.

Dr. Waldron has been a part of the St. Andrew’s community since 2002. In that time, she has served as Director of Admissions, Academic Dean of the Upper School, Director of Studies, International Baccalaureate Coordinator, Lower School Head, teacher, mentor and so much more.

Students & teachers @ St. Andrew’s School on Wilmington Island in Savannah know more about microplastics and the impact they can have on sea life, thanks to a program launched by Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant and funded by the Landings Landlovers, Inc.

The students and teachers participating in the program went on a trawl aboard the R/V Sea Dawg and collected, sorted, identified and counted the organisms they caught, including shrimp, blue crabs and fish. They also collected water samples and took those back to the Marine Education Center lab to examine for the presence and abundance of microplastics.

Funds raised will support our scholarship fund as well as other program enhancements.
