Tummy Time Foods is turning up the heat this summer with two Kids’ Cooking Camps. These 3-day camps teach kids ages 7 and up how to select and prepare healthier food options from scratch. Kids will learn the importance of healthy nutrition, basic cooking skills, knife skills, kitchen safety and more. Each day will focus on a different lesson and menu, and kids will dine on their own culinary creations. The camp ends with a Closing Reception featuring refreshments prepared by camp participants. Participants will also receive a Certificate of Completion to commemorate their experience.

Kids’ Cooking Camp
Session 1: Kids Can Cook!
June 10-12, 2015.  Register here. 
Wed. June 10:9AM-Noon: Nutrition 101 & “Sugar Shock”: Sugar Alternatives Kids will leave understanding the basics of nutrition and how to pick the best foods for our bodies. They will then learn how to replace refined sugars with healthier options and prepare healthy remakes.
Thurs. June 11: 9AM-Noon: “Thinking Outside the Cereal Bowl” and “Snack Attack”Kids will learn how to make some healthy and creative breakfast options from scratch. We will also explore how to make the perfect snacks for their growing bodies.
Fri. June 12: 9AM-Noon: Reception Preparation/Final Presentation Preparation
Noon-1PM: Camp Closing Reception (Parents invited) A closing reception to celebrate the graduation of our “Kids Can Cook Camp”! Kids will spend the morning preparing the appetizers for parents and guests. Parents are invited to attend our reception and support the kids while they present their final presentations.

Tues. June 30: 9AM-Noon: Nutrition 101 & Essentials of Summer Cooking: After we cover the basics and importance of eating a healthy diet, we’ll see how fresh herbs, like basil, parsley, mint, can enhance any dish
Wed. July 1: 9AM-Noon: Summer’s Best: We will be making delicious dishes using Summer’s best ingredients, like fresh strawberries, tomatoes, corn and basil
Thurs. July 2: 9AM-Noon: Reception Preparation/Final Presentation Preparation
Noon-1PM: TTF Closing Reception (Parents invited) A closing reception to celebrate the graduation of the “TTF Chefs-in-Training.” Kids will spend the morning preparing the appetizers for parents and guests. Parents are invited to attend our reception and support the kids while they present their final presentations.

Camp Tuition
Cost of the 3-day camp: $125 per child. Parents will receive a discount for registering multiple children. Tuition includes all ingredients, supplies and materials needed to create delicious, healthy kid-friendly recipes. Kids also enjoy interactive nutrition lessons and receive an exciting kit of their very own cooking utensils and a special gift to use during camp and keep.

Summer Food and Fun Workshops
Tuesdays in July at Tom Triplett Park (Pooler) for ages 6 & older.
12:15-1:15pm
Join Tummy Time Foods for five 1-hour workshops where your child will make delicious summer time treats. During each workshop, your child will play a game, learn a nutrition lesson or do a nutrition craft and make a delicious, healthy summer snack from scratch using the season’s freshest ingredients. For kids age 6 & older.
Tuesday, July 7: “Traffic Light Eating”: Learn some great strategies for summer healthy eating.
Tuesday, July 14: “Sugar Shock”: Make yummy snacks using all-natural sugar alternatives.
Tuesday, July 21: “Summer Salads”: A great dressing, and even a wrap, can take a simple salad from yummy to spectacular.
Tuesday, July 28: “Energy Bites”: Make quick and easy snacks to keep you fueled all day long!
