Magical seals and scepters, a maze, a tea party and, of course, a tiara at the end of the quest. There are a few spots left.

Because not every child is into running as much as the mom, check out this kids program created to give mothers and daughters another reason to spend time together. Check out the story line and the details on this great adventure. You can walk through the forest after you run or instead of running.

Water park season is here.

The Pooler water park – Surf Lagoon – opened for the 2017 summer season in April for weekends only. Surf Lagoon will open daily starting Mon. May 22 until Aug. 7.

Other water parks that are within a daytrip from Savannah that open in May for the 2017 Summer Season include Splash in the Boro in Statesboro, Ga; Summer Waves on Jekyll Island; and three water parks in Charleston, SC.

Bug Fest 2017 Savannah Save the date for Savannah Children’s Museum annual Bug Fest 2017.

This annual family-friendly celebration features bug crafts, activities and workshops. Savannah Children’s Museum community partners will be there to help us understand the importance of bugs in nature and in our everyday lives.

These little creatures make a big impact, visit Savannah Children’s Museum’s Bug Fest on Saturday, May 27 10AM-4PM to learn more.

This year, discover the importance of bees and other natural pollinators with the Coastal Empire Beekeeper’s Association, learn about insectivores with Oatland Island Wildlife Center, enter our Insectarium with Armstrong State University’s Entomology class, meet some friendly reptiles from Georgia Reptile Society, try Bug Yoga for kids led by Yogi Palz and become a member of the Eat-A-Bug club with “Tails of the Lowcountry.”

Savannah Children’s Museum educators will also be delivering programs and activities related to bugs and many other crawly creatures throughout the event.

The Naked Dog food truck will be on Sugar Beet Bluff, just outside of Savannah Children’s Museum’s entrance with delicious hot dogs, snacks and Italian Ice for purchase.

Admission to Bug Fest is included in the cost of regular admission to Savannah Children’s Museum, $7.50 for all guests 18 months and older. This event is FREE for Coastal Heritage Society members.

Savannah Scottish Games 2017 Bethesda Academy The 2017 Savannah Scottish Games – Sat. May 6 2017 at Bethesda Academy – are the fourth oldest Scottish Games in the southeastern United States.

The Savannah Scottish Games are a celebration of Scottish heritage and music, the Games truly have something for everyone to enjoy including entertainment by City Hotel and the Savannah Ceili Band, a Highland dancing competition, traditional heavy athletics, Celtic ale from Asheville, NC’s Highland Brewery, and a wide variety of Scottish art available for purchase.

The games will also feature the very popular traditional heavy athletic events including the caber toss and hammer throw, children’s activities, and border collie skill demonstrations.

Gates will open at 9AM and closing ceremonies will take place at 4:30PM May 7.

The 2013 Disney hit Frozen will be shown @ Lucas Theatre in Savannah on Sat. April 29 2017, 5PM.

The movie is presented by Alison Harris, nominated for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s 2017 Woman of the Year. Harris is joining LLS on their mission to find cures and ensure access to treatments for blood cancer patients. Her goal is to raise $100,000 in 10 weeks to help cure blood cancers. She’s dedicating her campaign in memory of her Grandmother, Marion Quinn, who died of Leukemia March 22, 1975, just 2 weeks before Harris’ parent’s wedding.

This movie is being shown by donation only for Alison Harris’ LLS Woman of the Year campaign.

Savannah’s 7th Annual A-Town Get Down will take place March 25, noon-12AM at its new location on Indian Street. The area, defined by Indian Street (between Fahm Street and the Talmadge Bridge) is well known as both a creative hub and emerging business community.

A-Town Get Down Art & Music Festival Savannah 2017 The family-friendly event is free from noon to 5PM and ticketed from 5PM to midnight.

This year’s all-day festival will feature over 25 live bands and visual artists each representing diverse music genres and artistic styles. Performers include Cracker, Bobby Rush, Col. Bruce Hampton, Snarky Puppy Horns, Low Country Voices, Old Salt Union, Walter Parks, Savannah Children’s Choir, AJ Ghent, Marques & The Marvelous Miracles, Waits & Co, Complicated Animals, Annalise Curtin, The Billy Jonas Band (Especially Family Oriented), and the Live Art of Jose Ray, Will Penny, SCAD Ceramics, Digital Art, Loop It Up Savannah and much more.

Thanks to the festival’s new location, guests can expect larger stages and more live music and live art installations than ever before over the 12-hour period. A-Town is also partnering with Loop It Up Savannah again this year to connect students from Title I school districts to free access to interactive art and music projects.

The festival was created in honor of art student and musician, Alex “A-Town” Townsend, who passed away in 2010. The all-day festival’s mission is to increase access to music and art to citizens of the region. From the hours of 12pm – 5pm, the festival is free and open to everyone for family-friendly art and music events. From 5pm – midnight, the festival becomes a ticketed event for the headliner performers and art events.

Color-A=Thon Savannah Pooler 2017 The community is invited to participate in the Coastal Empire Montessori Charter School Color-A-Thon Event in Pooler on Sat. April 1 2017.

This fun, healthy event is a fundraiser in which students collect donations, earn rewards and then participate in a 3K fun run as a culminating event. The students, their friends and family and other supporters can walk, run, skip, or dance through a course where they all will get blasted by color dust!

Coastal Empire Montessori, a Pre-K through 5th Grade charter school, serves students from all over Chatham County.

Registration fee is $30 and includes a T-shirt and a color dye pack. (The color dust is safe, non-toxic and completely washable.) To register, click here. Join us for the inaugural Tybee Island Youth Council and Friends Talent Show. Acts include song and dance, piano performances, monologues, poetry readings, magic, comedy, dialogues and large group skits.
Cameo acts by our friends at Garrison Arts Academy, Savannah Arts and professional musicians will be sure to entertain you! . Bring the whole family for a fun night of supporting the youngest governmental youth council in the state of Georgia!
Pizza, hot dogs, drinks and concessions will be sold at intermission and student artwork will be available for purchase. All proceeds from the show support the Youth Council’s educational trip to Washington D.C. this summer. There will be additional fees for some of the activities in order to raise money for the center.

Bring the kids for a day of enchantment. This family-themed festival is all about the “wee folk” getting up close with the natural world and encouraging imaginative outdoor play.

Scavenger hunt, costume contest, crafts, and games. All ages are encouraged to participate in the annual gnome and fairy home building contest. Homes can be built at the festival by using natural materials from Oatland’s forest. Bring your whole family to stroll Oatland’s magical trails and maybe you will catch a glimpse of a fairy or gnome looking for a place to call home.
