2020 Hilton Head Island Lantern Parade-in-Place

Introducing Hilton Head Island Lantern Parade-in-Place. Over the course of three nights –  Thurs. Nov. 5– Nov. 7 2020 –  the Hilton Head Island community to put their lanterns on display in their front yards, balconies, windows.

Chantelle’s Krewe of the Grateful Gluttons will be out each night at a different location for a drive-thru spectacle of light. Come drive by one of these stops and see her large glowing puppets on display each evening from 7-8 PM.

* Fri Nov. 6 @ Fire Station 3 (534 William Hilton Pkwy)
* Sat Nov. 7 @ Historic Mitchelville Freedom Park

The three neighborhoods with the most lanterns on display in your community will receive a surprise mini-lantern parade on your block @ sunset. So make sure you let organizers know you’ll have your lantern shining brightly.

In small multi-age pods with strict health and safety guidelines, students will not only have support for virtual lessons, but also access to staff-led hand-on enrichment activities in S.T.E.M. literacy, art, and movement, and free play in the museum. In honor of Native American Heritage, the Edisto Natchez-Kusso Tribe of SC are partnering with the Morris Center for Lowcountry Heritage for a free, family-friendly Native American celebration, 1-3PM Sat. Nov. 9 2019 in Ridgeland SC.

Tribe members will teach attendees about their customs and traditions. There will be a demonstration of music and dance with a chance for folks to join. Afterwards, take your photo taken with members of the tribe. Local Native American artists will have their work on display, too.

This event will take place in the Morris Center Art Park under the big live oak tree.

Morris Center Launches Field Trips in Fall 2019

Morris Center for Lowcountry Heritage announces its lineup of field trips for the upcoming school year. All K-12 state standards-based programs are cross-disciplinary and include the following curriculums: social studies, English language arts and visual arts.

Dynamic and interactive, the programs include pre- and post-visit materials for teachers to use in the classroom. Field trips to the center last approximately two hours and include a tour of the current exhibitions and hands-on activities.

Help The Sandbox Children’s Museum on Hilton Head Is. send summer out in style!

This annual event will be at The Sandbox Hilton Head location on Wednesday August 7 for an end of summer celebration! Enjoy outdoor activities (weather permitting) and hands-on exhibits and arts and crafts indoors. Light picnic lunch included.

Outside activities (weather permitting) include bounce house, building blocks and more. Inside activities include all hands on exhibits (Including new “Shadow Wall”, special arts and crafts and a scavenger hunt with a prize.)

FREE Preschool Young Explorers Club

The Savannah National Wildlife Refuge hosts free monthly preschool program, Young Explorers Club, featuring story time, crafts, snacks, and take-home activities. Different theme each month. Call 843-784-2468 to sign up.

The monthly programs are one hour long and on the first Tuesday of every month, except if a date falls on a federal holiday, at 10AM at the Savannah National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center (694 Beech Hill Lane Hardeeville, SC 29927).
