Girls ages 10-12 can enjoy an afternoon of beading and braiding in this fun class on Mondays from 4:30-5:30pm starting on Jan. 29 2024.
Roll up your sleeves and tap into your creative side as we explore many materials to create wearable and useable pieces of art. Introduction to beads, Kumihimo (the Japanese art of braiding), the use of knotting and paper will be explored. Projects will include friendship bracelets, key rings, and Kumihimo bracelets.

In this class, young artists will have the opportunity to explore the art of both drawing and painting. You’ll develop your drawing and painting skills in a variety of fun projects that will include watercolor, pastels, and acrylics.
Kids aged 9-12 can also join Adventures in Art, Beads, Braids and Knots, and Youth Clay classes.

In Teen Clay, teens with any level of experience will learn a broad range of skills including hand-building and experimental projects. Beginning and Intermediate Youth Clay allows youth ages 9-12 to dive into the world of ceramics and complete finished pieces. Teen Clay class begins Jan 22, Beginning Youth Clay class begins Jan 30, and the Intermediate Youth Cay class begins Jan 29.

Mornings in movement and song with little ones aged 2-3. Class is available on both Wednesday and Saturday from 10-10:45AM starting Jan. 31.
This class offers interactive bonding time with parent and child, geared towards children ages two and three. Play with your child in song and dance, helping them achieve confidence in cognitive and motor skills. Using props and imagination in themed organized play connects you with your child while watching their independence develop.
Kids aged 3-5 can also join Discovering Dance, a 3 in 1 class exploring different dance techniques and rhythm.

Scribble Art Studio in Savannah will offer three days of art instruction during the first part of Thanksgiving Week 2023 when Savannah-Chatham public schools are closed for fall break.
Participants will learn various art techniques. Materials are provided.
Projects include landscape, portraiture, and independent study.
Friends of Oatland (FOO) and Oatland Island Wildlife Center are hosting a t-shirt design contest and your design could be chosen for a limited edition Oatland t-shirt available for the 2023 holiday season! The design should feature the animals, plants, or history of Oatland Island and can utilize as many as 4 colors. This Savannah fall festival will feature Oatland’s 1800’s cabins, old-time demonstrations, games, music, open fire cooking, crafts, and more. Animal education and interaction table will be open from 10-11AM and 2-3PM.
Games, crafts, snack bar, and hay rides will require tickets (available for purchase on site on festival day). Sugar cane syrup will also be available for purchase.

In Discovering Art and Adventures in Art, young artists are invited to expand their creativity with a variety of fun art projects! Both 2-D and 3-D mediums will be covered, including working with clay, pastels, paint, and collage.

Scribbles’ sunlit studio space gives guests plenty of room for creating themed art and a side table to set up outside refreshments to mark the occasion.
Parties generally last up to two hours with art first and then refreshments.

We will use DSLR digital cameras and learn about exposure, and a few historical methods involving film. Photography is fun and accessible to everyone.

Take time to unleash your creativity in Telfair Museums’ Jepson Center studios every Saturday and Sunday between 10AM and 2PM for artmaking projects for all ages.
Work at your own pace and comfort level through an array of creative mediums such as watercolors, collage, calligraphy, origami, coloring books and much more.
Each month features a special project designed to connect with an exhibition at the museum. A studio assistant is always on hand to answer questions and assist guests.
Drop-In Studio is perfect for all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

About the Artist:
Jennifer Mack-Watkins is a contemporary visual artist whose artistic aesthetic draws from a confluence of reference points, most of which include her Japanese Mokuhanga printmaking techniques and her culturally rich southern roots. Her work has been acquired at prominent institutions including the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture, Library of Congress, The Met, The Getty Archives and she has been featured in publications such as The New York Times, Vogue and Essence. Jennifer holds a bachelor of arts in BA in studio arts from Morris Brown College, an MAT from Tufts University, and an MFA in Printmaking from Pratt Institute and is on the Board of Trustees at the Brattleboro museum. In 2022, Mack-Watkins completed her first children’s book illustration for Kokila/Random House titled You Gotta Meet Mr. Pierce!
