Weekly Imagination Hour @ The Sandbox Children’s Museum on Hilton Head Is. features a staff chosen book and a related arts crafts project uniquely designed for parents and caregivers to enjoy one-on-one time with their children. Each week features a different story making it the perfect activity for you and your family.
Imagination Hour is geared for children age 5 and under; however, siblings and guests are always welcome to join! We invite you to stay and enjoy the museum following the program—the Learner’s Loft is home to the Sandbox’s very own library—the perfect spot to explore another story or bring a story to life with a puppet show. Lowcountry Celebration Park – which opened in December 2020 – includes Adventure Playground for kids, a discovery trail, pavilion and lawn for festivals, exercise stations, Wi-Fi, restrooms.
The new visitor center @ Skidaway Island State Park includes floor-to-ceiling windows to showcase the maritime forest and marsh plus birding from a screened porch; a 20-feet high giant ground sloth skeleton, a replica of an ancient fossil found within the park in 1822; nature exhibits including turtles and snakes; a gift shop is filled with clothing, toys, books, camping supplies, jewelry and local foods. The visitor center also includes meeting space, classroom space and staff offices.

Mohawk Lake Trail
The 17-acre lake (pictured above) located at 1132 Mohawk Street now has a new walking/jogging trail and dog park that opened in July 2021.
A roughly three-mile section of the proposed six-mile public Truman Linear Park Trail runs between Lake Mayer and East DeRenne Avenue, parallel to the Truman Parkway and Casey Canal. Part of the trail includes a boardwalk (pictured below) that runs through a woodsy section of Magnolia Park neighborhood. Learn more here.
The South Carolina Department of Revenue said the S.C. 2021 Tax Free Weekend takes place Fri. Aug. 6 through Sun. Aug. 8.
The department says eligible items can be purchased online and in-store without paying the state’s 6% sales tax and any applicable local taxes during the tax holiday.
South Carolina’s Tax Free Weekend applies to the following items:
Clothing, Accessories, Footwear, School supplies, Computers, Computer equipment & software, Linens, bath towels, shower curtains.
Not exempt: Jewelry, cosmetics, eyewear, furniture and layaway purchases.
Georgia State lawmakers failed to pass legislation to provide for any tax holidays, according to the Georgia Department of Revenue, ending the state’s tax-free weekends.

You’re invited: Ignite the Senses Children’s Gym AUTISM AWARENESS 5K Bubble Run & Children’s DASH on Sat June 26, 2021 in Bluffton, SC. Register online here.
There will be two children’s dashes at 8AM – one for ages 2-4 & one for ages 5-10.
The 5k race starts and ends at LowCountry Community Church off of Buckwalter Parkway. It is a fast flat course and will be chip timed by Grounded Running. There will be one water station on the course approximately at the halfway point. The race will start promptly at 8AM with the Children’s DASH followed by the 5k run. Parents are welcome to run with their child(ren) if necessary. All participants will be welcomed back to the finish with a shower of bubbles (representative of special needs) and a finisher’s medal. NOTE: Each participant MUST turn in their timing chip to receive a medal.
Register by June 15 to receive T-shirts.
Registrations accepted until 7:45AM on race day.
Packet Pick up is Friday June 25 9AM-6PM at Ignite the Senses Children’s Gym, 163 Bluffton Road, Suite C-1 and race day morning from 7-7:45AM at the race start.

Festive atmosphere with the highlight of the night fireworks which start around 9PM. Kids of all ages can enjoy inflatable bounce houses and face painting for a minimal fee. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the fireworks.

Tormenta’s dynamic coaches will provide fun games that will promote soccer development, learning, character building, and exercise, while each participant will receive a FREE t-shirt.
Full-day soccer camps also include a FREE soccer ball and the afternoon being indoor soccer play.
Half and full-day options are available in numerous locations: Savannah, Southbridge, Islands, Skidaway Is., Statesboro, as well in South Carolina in Hilton Head Is., Bluffton, and Hardeeville.
