Here’s a chance for your child to have a Savannah swim team experience in a laid-back summer atmosphere.
The Mayfair Marlins summer swim team in Savannah is open to ages 4-18. No swim team experience necessary. First practice is May 23 2022 @ Chatham County Aquatic Center. Practices eventually move to Mayfair neighborhood pool. Pool membership is NOT required to join the team.
Summer swim teams have meets with other members of the Savannah Coastal Summer League (such as Isle of Hope; Wilmington Park; Savannah Golf Club; Savannah Quarters; Savannah Yacht Club.

The 2022 Thunderbolt Blessing of the Fleet festival on the waterfront – presented by the Town of Thunderbolt along with community sponsors and partners – pays tribute to Thunderbolt’s local shrimping and fishing industry, offering live music, a morning parade, vendors, food trucks, a beer garden, free activities, raffle prizes and the fleet blessing by Bishop Parkes from St. John The Baptist Church.

Children ages 4-6 are invited to the Savannah Cultural Arts Center to make the most famous fairytales come to life. Children will explore their stories through beginning ballet, playing imaginative games, making crafts, and reading their thrilling tales.
Put on a crown and let our imaginations create magic on the dance floor.
Students also will learn a royal ballet dance and perform on the last day for family and friends.

The Summer Pool Pass is $249 for families (two adults and 2 dependents under the age of 23), or $175 for an individual. Summer Pool Pass memberships expire Sept 7 2022.

YMCA of Coastal Georgia is offering an Educator Appreciation special this summer: educators and staff with a valid ID or proof of payment are eligible for a special rate of $69 for an individual, $75 for a single adult household (with two dependents under 23), or $93 for a two-adult household (with two dependents under 23), covering May 2-Sept. 7.
Like the pool pass, this limited summer membership covers access to the pools and facilities as well as group fitness classes and Child Watch. As limited memberships, they both expire Sept. 7 and do not provide member discount rates on programming (like summer camp or child care).
The Educator Appreciation rate is also available to students home from the summer with a valid student ID. Registration must be completed by May 31.

“Take regular breaks using the ‘20-20-20’ rule: every 20 minutes,” recommends the American Academy of Ophthalmology. “Shift your eyes to look at an object at least 20 feet away, for at least 20 seconds.”

Thanks to the Rotary Club of Savannah, we have a fun, all accessible playground in Forsyth Park.
The $342,000 park was funded by the club through internal sponsorship, a grant from the Alan S. Gaynor Fund and AMBUCS, the Herb Traub Fund and support from the City of Savannah and Chatham County. It is accessible to all children, including those who have wheelchair limitations and other specialized conditions.
The design includes nine slides, 16 climbers, and eight swings. The equipment can support a capacity up to 300 children. The ground is covered with rubber matting and mulch.
Oh & that’s just one of the two Forsyth Park playgrounds. Yes, two. The second one for older kids is also popular (just not newly redone) and includes swings, climbing wall, slides.
The two Forsyth Park playgrounds include restrooms, café, spray pool, paved sidewalk for walking, biking. Pack a lunch (or eat at the café) & spend the day in this landmark, historic park. Check out the gated fragrant garden if it’s unlocked & the park fountains. Kids can dance to their heart’s content on the bandshell’s canopied stage.
