Richmond Hill kids’ activities: Fort McAllister State Park programs

Fort McAllister State Park in Richmond Hill has these happenings during January 2017 including an event to keep the kids busy when they’re off from school on MLK Jr. Day with Mini Junior Ranger Camp.

First Saturday Hike
Saturday, Jan 7, 2017 12PM to 2PM
Join our Naturalist Ranger for a hike on our Magnolia Trail. Visitors will begin from the visitor’s center, walking down our paved causeway to the trail-head of Magnolia Trail. Take in the vistas of salt marshes and maritime forests. Dress for weather. Bring water. Dogs must be on a 6-foot leash. $2 plus $5 parking. 912-727-2339.

Civil War Games

Show your competitive side and join us for an afternoon of fun. We will be playing a few games that were popular during the Civil War. $9. 912-727-2339.

Mini Junior Ranger Camp
Monday, Jan 16, 2017 9 AM to 4:30 PM
Spend the day with a ranger learning about the history of Fort McAllister and the nature surrounding the park. Register in advance. $25. 912-727-2339.

Water Bird Watch
Saturday, Jan 21, 2017 9AM to 11AM
Hike down our causeway to view different species of water birds as they forage for food along Red Bird Creek. $2 plus $5 parking. 912-727-2339.

Bike Ride

Come out and join our Naturalist Ranger for a bike ride. We will be riding across our beautiful salt marsh and Magnolia Trail. Bike rental included however we have a limited quantity. $5 plus $5 parking. 912-727-2339.
