Looking for an out of this world adventure? Georgia Tech’s Full STEAM Ahead is blasting off to space to discover constellations, satellites, and galaxies. With the help of Hummingbird Robotics and circuits, students are bound for some great 21st-century space explorations.

During each week, your student will learn how to code using Hummingbird technology and learn about different constellations before creating their own.

Grade Levels: 3rd-8th graders

Make It, Move It  June 17-21 2019 (1 week program) @ the Georgia Tech-Savannah campus

Robots, assembly lines, and raw materials are what it takes to make it, and planes, trains, trucks and ships are what it takes to move it. This week long summer program will have you exploring all the aspects of the supply chain through games, engaging projects, and sessions led by industry experts. We’ll finish out the week by assembling your very own Ramblin’ Wreck model car!

The internet of things is connecting the world around us in new and novel ways. Now you can keep your dog entertained by controlling a robot with your phone, program your lights to come on and off when you’re not home, and collect environmental data in real time from anywhere in the world! STEAM Camp Classes

VIDEO GAME DESIGN I-II
Campers will learn the basic principles of video game design, and will use real software development tools to create a functional (and fun!) video game. Video Game Design I & II will each be offered twice.

ROBOTICS I-II
Campers will learn the basic principles of robotics and automation, working with a variety of technologies to create and program functional robot vehicles. Each student will get to keep their own kit. Robotics I & II will each be offered twice.

MINECRAFT I-IV
Perfect for younger campers, this camp uses Minecraft to teach a variety of subjects, from electronic circuits to art to economics.

FREEPLAY GAMING
Available just before the start of the summer session. It’s not a class. It’s just playing games and having fun. All day long. All week long.

  • explore engineering through hands-on activities such as building LED flashlights, remotely operated underwater vehicles (ROVs), and a water filter;
  • enjoy field trips such as a riverboat tour of the Savannah River to learn about harbor deepening, river dredging, and local port activity;
  • visit to a local site development construction project
  • go on site visits to facilities including Gulfstream Aerospace, JCB, Skidaway Institute of Oceanography & more.

Students work with professional engineers from major engineering disciplines including civil, electrical, computer, aerospace, mechanical, manufacturing, industrial, water resources, environmental, and ocean.

What an amazing opportunity to learn about engineering, inform decisions on a college major and strengthen their college application.

To participate, students must:

  • Be a rising junior or senior in high school
  • Provide a teacher recommendation

This summer camp teaches beginning students how to create their own videogames using Scratch, a colorful programming environment that makes it easy to bring interactive stories to life. In class, students collaborate on developing a game from beginning to final polish—a fun and informative way to introduce younger students to the art of videogame development.

Each day, participants will tour a new exhibit and learn to create the very same types of art seen in the galleries, finding inspiration with instruction in drawing, painting, and printmaking. Students will immerse themselves in innovative arts lessons taught by professional artists.

Drawing Portfolio Builder Camp
10–12yrs: May 28–May 31, 9am–3pm

This four-day camp is designed to help upper-elementary and middle school students improve their drawing skills and begin the process of developing a portfolio. Students will focus on measurement, proportion, perspective, and use of value to create volume and space. The camp will also include practice portraiture and sketching from clothed models. The Drawing Portfolio Builder Camp is a great class for students to learn and advance the skills necessary for developing art portfolios.

Master Artist Photography Camp

This intensive, weeklong program focuses on black-and-white and digital photography, as well as the basic functions of 35mm manual cameras. The camp features student use of both manual and digital cameras and study of photography in Telfair exhibitions. The program will culminate with a reception and exhibition of the participants’ work in the Jepson Center.

Raising STEAM: Technology, Art, and Electronics

This comprehensive STEAM camp gives young people the opportunity to explore the artistic potential of technology. In this weeklong camp, students will learn to use a variety of technologies and methods to create and express themselves. Students will explore 3D printing, create images with Adobe Photoshop, and solder their own electronic-noise toys. Participants will also learn basic computer programming with Arduino microcontrollers. The program culminates with a reception and exhibition of the participants’ work in the Jepson Center.

Art with the Pros

STEM, Sports & Programs for Preschoolers 

The diverse array of St. Andrew’s summer camps consists of hands-on experiences beginning at the age of 3, with new camps being offered in computer program design and STEM for older children. St. Andrew’s sports camps are coordinated by the St. Andrew’s School experienced coaches and teachers and provide training at different levels in many athletic areas including football, basketball, soccer, volleyball, lacrosse, and cheer.

The St. Andrew’s summer camp brochure is filled with programs to spark interest from 3 years of age to upper school.

Long-time favorites will continue with the addition of new camps involving 21st century material. All of the camps will offer the chance for children to develop strong bonds with other children.

Categories of specialty camps offered:

  • Fabulous Fun: Outdoor Explorers, princess camp, slime camp, Master Chef, bake it-take it, American Girl Doll, etiquette, Snapology, and puppetry.
  • Academic: STEM camp, Certification in babysitting & CPR, creative writing, service and learning, math & games, lab rats, getting ready for kindergarten and 1st grade, as well as reading boot camps.
  • Athletic camps: baseball, basketball, football, volleyball for beginners and advanced full day, soccer, cheer, hip-hop dance, Sports Explorers, Performance 360 fitness, and Sweet Feet.
  • Fine Arts camps: Art techniques, paper Mache’, weekly themed art activities exploring different mediums. knitting, sewing, photography, and theatre camps.
