Each day, campers will rotate through instructional sessions of core/secondary sports.
Campers will learn techniques, develop skills and advance their abilities. The goal is to have campers learn in a fun and active environment with an emphasis on sportsmanship, confidence building and mutual respect.

Get ready to get messy and have a blast! Children will use their imaginations as they create unique works of art! Campers will learn about different artists, dabble in color and explore different mediums in this fun-filled camp.
Campers will love designing and constructing their dream inventions and structures using a variety of recycled materials, Legos, and untraditional supplies.
CMOP’s classic camp is back! Explore all of the terrific museum exhibits and participate in our daily programs! We’ll be on the go making projects and inventions, creating art, and having a blast in the exhibits!
Two camp times to choose from. This camp is offered as a morning only camp or choose the all day option.
July 17-21 2023. Two time options: 9AM-Noon (morning only) or 9AM-3PM (all day)
Your child will have a blast creating rhythm through STEM building of musical instruments! Design, build, and learn to play various instruments such as rhythm boards, rubber band harmonicas, and straw pan flutes!
Each week has a new theme, and your kiddo will walk away with an armful of creations, learned techniques, and long-lasting memories.
Choose which camp theme speaks to your child or enjoy them all.
Camp runs Tuesday-Friday, 9:30 am-12:00 pm, with a weekly rate of $180+tax per child and includes daily camp care and all necessary tools and supplies to create. Daily Snack & Drink provided.

Week 3, June 20-23, TIE DYE DIY. We’ll tie dye a shirt and a drawstring bag, hydro dip a hat and flower pot, make alcohol ink coasters and have a splatter party on Friday with their new friends!
Week 4, July 10-14, PERFECT PET. We’ll make a faux fish aquarium, a hook plaque, a treat dispenser, a 12×12 painting of their choosing, stamped jewelry, and have a splatter party on Friday with their new friends!
Week 5, July 18-21, CRAFTING PALOOZA. We’ll make a melted wax heart on canvas, a treat dispenser, string art, acrylic pour, alcohol ink coasters, and have a splatter party on Friday with their new friends!

Plant Riverside District will sponsor the annual Savannah’s WaterfrontIndependence Day Fireworks Show over the Savannah River on Tuesday, July 4 at 9:15PM. A special Fourth of July Viewing Party at Electric Moon will feature live DJ Lil’ G, exciting giveaways and an ideal vantage point to watch the fireworks show. Admission is $20 per person at the door.
LIVE MILITARY BANDS
OnSat. July 1 at 1PM, the Parris Island Marine Band will perform at Martin Luther King, Jr. Park at Plant Riverside District.
The 116th United States Army Band, a unit of the Georgia National Guard from Marietta, Ga., will perform live on Sun. July 2 at Martin Luther King, Jr. Park from 5 to 6:30PM. Savannah singer, speaker and author Stephanie Cherry will sing “The Star Spangled Banner” preceding the 116th United States Army Band’s performance.
A special Kids Corner will offer the opportunity to tie-dye t-shirts red, white and blue. Plant Riverside District will host the tie-dye Kids Corner at the Riverwalk Pavilions from Sat. July 1-Tues. July 4 from 1 to 5PM. Guests can bring their own 100% cotton T-shirt to tie dye free of charge or can purchase a T-shirt on-site for $10.
RED, WHITE & BLUE LIGHTING AND MORE
Throughout the holiday weekend, Plant Riverside District’s smokestacks, fountains and other familiar landmarks will be illuminated with red, white and blue lights after dark. Nightly America the Beautiful Fountain Shows will feature music in Martin Luther King, Jr. Park. at 9PM and 10PM

Horse camp is a spectacular week-long event including daily horseback riding lessons teaching basic horse care and horsemanship, arts and crafts, recreational games/activities, daily picnic on the farm, trivia, and more. There will be a horse show and a pizza & pool party every Friday.
No prior horse experience is required.

July 4th Battlefield Tours will be @ 10:30AM, Noon & 2PM @ Savannah History Museum.
March through history and learn about the American Revolution in Savannah. Experience a black powder demonstration, immerse yourself in 1779 Savannah, and hear about the personalities that shaped the city’s fight for freedom.
Tours begin in Savannah History Museum with a brief introduction and then visitors are led to Battlefield Memorial Park for further interpretation of the battle as well as a musket firing demonstration.
Kids will participate in a variety of activities to include; basketball, flag football, kickball, soccer, ultimate frisbee, tag games, and more! Camp hours are 8:30AM to 3:30PM (Extended Care until 5PM) and for ages 6 to 12.

Come enjoy an afternoon designed especially for homeschool families on Wed. June 28 2023, 1- 3PM @ Savannah Children’s Museum.
Students and their adults will participate in a hands-on indigo dyeing workshop while learning about the scientific process behind creating a dye from the indigo plant. Guests are welcome to bring their own 100% cotton t-shirt for dyeing.

The beloved classic The Phantom of the Opera will be performed at The Historic Savannah Theatre by the Savannah Children’s Theatre Junior Company July 7-16 2023.
Recently closing on Broadway after running for over 35 years, this show played nearly 14,000 performances and over 20 million patrons have fallen under it’s spell.
Now some of Savannah’s young actors will bring this timeless classic to life on the stage of The Historic Savannah Theatre, performing some of Broadway’s all time favorite songs like All I Ask of You, Think of Me, Masquerade and The Music of the Night.
School’s out, and with the warm, sunny days ahead, boat rides and trips to the beach or pool are likely in your future! As you plan for your family’s summer fun, it’s important to keep water safety in mind.
As the leading cause of death in children ages 1-4 years old and the second leading cause of death for children ages 5-14, drowning accidents affect nearly 1,000 children per year, mostly between the months of May and August. So this summer, stay prepared with the below water safety tips!
Start Swim Lessons Early
Swimming is a life-saving skill that we need to teach our children and it is never too early to start. Children can start ISR (Infant Swimming Resource) swim lessons as early as six months old to learn how to float on their backs. Standard classes usually start at 18 months and teach small children how to swim to a pool ledge or short distances. Older children should learn different swim strokes to equip them for situations like fighting currents.
We do not recommend using swim floaties to teach children to swim properly. Floaties hold a child upright, encouraging them to bob up and down instead of swimming horizontally. However, families with multiple children or children that have no fear may need to use swim floaties for certain children. If your child wears swim floaties, make sure they do not take them off the entire time you are in the gated area of the pool and continue to keep them within arm’s reach.
Never Swim Alone
When kids are around water, make sure they are never left alone, including during bath time. Adults should know how to swim themselves and should never be less than an arm’s length away from kids who are not strong swimmers. For older children, make sure they always have a swimming partner. If your child is attending a camp with a pool, ensure the area is fenced and that life jackets will be provided for open water activities. While lifeguards on duty are a wonderful resource, do not rely on lifeguards alone to watch your children.
Know the Signs of Drowning & How to React
It is smart for all parents and kids to know what to do in emergency situations. Teach your children that if another child pulls them under water, even if that child cannot swim, they need to
kick that child off of them and yell for help from an adult. Limit distractions while watching your child swim because drowning is silent as opposed to what you see in the movies where kids make noise and flail their arms. Most start with their head bobbing above water, but their mouth and nose are underwater. We recommend that all parents take a CPR course in the event of an emergency, and we offer 30-minute one-on-one instruction in our office for anyone who is interested. Pool Tips
If you have children or grandchildren that are not strong swimmers, it is incredibly important to install a fence around all four sides of your backyard pool. If one side of the fence is open to the house, it is just as dangerous as not having a fence. The fence should be at least four-feet high and non-climbable with a self-closing, self-locking gate. Until you can install a fence, we recommend installing locks at the top of the door and utilizing door alarms so that children cannot access the pool. When hosting families with children that are not strong swimmers, the pool should be fully enclosed, locked, and/or monitored even if children are not ‘supposed’ to be swimming. If hosting a pool party, consider hiring a lifeguard or designating “Water Watchers” to watch the pool for 15-minute increments, and avoid using large floats in the pool to improve visibility.
Open Water Tips
Open water is unpredictable and susceptible to several dangers like currents, rip tides, limited visibility, depth, and uneven surfaces. If your backyard leads to open water, consider fencing off access. Children should have Coast Guard-approved life jackets for all boat rides and recreational activities on the water. Teach children best practices, like only swimming in designated areas, always entering feet first, and avoiding cold water that can cause shock.

July 4th Fireworks @ The Pier @ Tybee Island, Mon. July 4 2023 Tues. July 4, 2023, 9PM Tybee’s annual celebration of America’s birthday. Independence day fireworks start between 9PM and 9:30 pm. The show is staged on the pier but is easily viewed from any of Tybee Island’s eastern beaches.
