Touch A Truck 2025 @ Oglethorpe Mall, Savannah

You’re invited to Junior League of Savannah’s Touch a Truck event on Saturday, March 8, 2025, from 10 AM – 2 PM at Oglethorpe Mall in Savannah.

Touch a Truck provides a unique hands-on opportunity for kids to climb, explore, and interact with a variety of construction vehicles, emergency response units, farm equipment, and more.

This year’s event also coincides with the Coastal Georgia NAWIC (National Association of Women in Construction) chapter’s celebration of National Women in Construction Week (March 2-8), highlighting the important role women play in the industry.

Touch A Truck will feature emergency vehicles, vehicles that support our community, bounce houses and more! Over approx. 45 activities.

Toddler Tuesdays @ Oatland Island Wildlife Center

Toddler Tuesday is an Oatland Wildlife Center program for 1-4 year old children and their caregivers that focuses on one of our animals, or a relevant nature theme. The program will meet at the picnic pavilion​ and will include singing, finger play, a story, and a possible encounter with one of ​our furry, feathered or scaly​ residents.

Occasionally the program ventures to an exhibit, so dress appropriately and bring your stroller and walking shoes. Toddler Tuesday is weather dependent and in case of extreme weather and a cancellation is called for,​ attendees will be emailed at the address you registered your child with.

Sessions are offered twice on Tuesdays from 10-10:30AM & 11-11:30AM.

If you don’t see a new theme, don’t worry, the program runs all year except one week during 4th of July and over the winter holidays.

iNaturalist 101: Are you an iNaturalist user? Learn how to use this powerful ciƟzen science tool. We will show you how to use the smartphone and desktop applicaƟons to make observaƟons, suggest idenƟficaƟons, explore wildlife in the local area, and more! Download the app and create an account ahead of Ɵme to get the most out of this program. Meet in front of the Visitor Center for a brief tutorial before we head outside to make observaƟons.

Kids Care: Cleanup Challenge: Are you ready to give back to your community? Make your world a little brighter by helping tidy up. Stop by the Visitor Center to receive informationn and materials. Junior Rangers will receive credit towards a Kids Care service patch. There is no age limit and all participants may earn a prize.

Meet the Corn Snake: Drop by the Interpretive Center to meet, touch, and learn all about the corn snake.
Meet the Rat Snake: Drop by the Interpretive Center to meet, touch, and learn all about the corn snake.

Read with a Ranger: Young children will enjoy getting out for this hour of interactive reading. Listen to nature stories perfect for children with a love of the outdoors. Meet at the Interpretive Center, outside if fair weather.

Sandpiper Trail Official Grand Re-opening: You’ve been asking (and asking and asking). After many months of closure, we’re pleased to finally say… “It’s OPEN!” Come help us celebrate the grand re-opening of the Sandpiper Trail with a simple, fun hike along the Sandpiper Trail Loop.

Science of Snowflakes: Join the naturalist in the InterpreƟve Center to learn all about how snowflakes are formed while you make a one-of-a-kind snowflake keepsake to take home. $2 per person.

Stills of Skidaway Hike: Uncover the history and science behind the abandoned moonshine stills on Skidaway Island State Park. Meet at the Big Ferry trailhead for a 3-mile hike highlighƟng some of the area’s most fascinating tales.

DIY Birdfeeder: Birdfeeders provide an energetic boost to the diets of local and migrating birds looking for a hearty meal. Make your own to take home while watching our birdfeeders. Meet behind the Visitor Center at the picnic tables. $3 per person.

History Hike: How to build an island: Natural history buffs will enjoy this exciting hike all about the formation of the barrier islands in our area, including information about the mega fauna that once lived here. Meet at the Big Ferry Trailhead for a 1.5 mile hike. 

iNaturalist 101: Learn how to use the smartphone and desktop applications to make observations, suggest identifications, explore wildlife in the local area, and more! Download the app and create an account ahead of time to get the most out of this program. Meet in front of the Visitor Center for a brief tutorial before we head outside to make observations. 

Kids Care: Cleanup Challenge: On this National Day of Service, here’s an opportunity to give back! As Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, what are you doing for others?” Stop by the Visitor Center to receive information and materials. Junior Rangers will receive credit towards a Kids Care service patch. 

National Bird Day Hike: Join us on this special day for an easy 1-mile hike to and from the iconic observation tower. You will enjoy learning how to spot and identify forest and shore birds with a ranger. Meet at the Big Ferry Trailhead. 

Picnic with a View: Pack a lunch and join us for a laid-back hike to the observation tower. Meet at the Big Ferry Trailhead at 12:30PM. The total distance is 1 mile, with a break at the observation tower to eat lunch as we enjoy the beauty of Skidaway Narrows.

Read with a Ranger: Young children will enjoy getting out for this hour of interactive reading. Listen to nature stories perfect for children with a love of the outdoors. Meet at the Interpretive Center, outside if fair weather.

Roving Ranger: A ranger will be roving the park to answer your questions about local flora, fauna, and more!

Parent and Me Movement Class @ Savannah Cultural Arts Center

Parent and Child Movement is back at the Savannah Cultural Arts Center! 

Enjoy a morning having fun and bonding with your child in this class designed for ages 2-3. Play with your child in song and dance, helping them achieve confidence in cognitive and motor skills. Using props and imagination in themed organized play connects you with your child while watching their independence develop.

Saturdays from January 11 – February 15, 9:00-9:45am. $25/$20 City of Savannah Resident.
