Free Family Day – The Art of Still Life (Jepson Center Only) Oct. 22 2022 , 10AM – 5PM Jepson Center, Savannah
Free Family Day @ Telfair Museums’ Jepson Center features family activities from 1-4PM based on the exhibitions Feels Like Freedom: Phillip J. Hampton and Elegies: Still Lifes in Contemporary Art. Families may explore and experiment with art materials, create still lifes, and make string art inspired by the work of Phillip J. Hampton.
The afternoon also will include a demonstration of still life painting and a “living still life” activity.
Georgia State Railroad Museum and Savannah Children’s Museum will transform into a magical Harry Potter-themed experience during “Frogwarts” on Sun. Oct. 16 2022, 11AM-3PM.
This year’s classes will include Wand Making, Potions, Fortune Telling, Defense Against the Dark Arts: Glow in the Dark Fun!, Care of Magical Creatures, Quill Writing, Herbology, Muggle Studies, and Quidditch. Attendees can also take a ride on Georgia State Railroad Museum’s locomotive, the Frogwarts Express, or visit Ingotts Wizarding Bank. Visit the Owlery with Georgia Southern University’s Center for Wildlife Education and enjoy a musical selection from Esther F. Garrison School for the Arts’ Garrison Voices.
Some community partners will also be leading workshops, including Georgia Reptile Society. The Lowcountry Turners will be creating unique wooden wands. Harry-Potter themed food will be available for purchase.
Please dress in any Halloween or Harry Potter-themed costume of your choice!
Cost of admission: $14 per person for non-members; $12 per person for Coastal Heritage Society members.

Free admission, scavenger hunt Sept. 18 2022 to Andrew Low House Museum, Savannah
The Andrew Low House Museum is hosting a Community Day on Sunday, Sept. 18, noon-4PM. The museum will be open to the public FREE of charge with tours for the community to experience the site’s history, architecture, and art.
The fun filled day has something for everyone, including scavenger hunts, creative activities, and tasty treats for all in the museum’s courtyard. The Andrew Low House is located at 329 Abercorn St. on Lafayette Square.
To encourage all to explore the beautiful area around the Andrew Low House, the Municipal Archives has developed two new scavenger hunts to get you out and about.

Constitution Day @ Georgia Historical Society Research Center in Savannah
You are invited to the Georgia Historical Society Research Center in Savannah on Constitution Day on Fri. Sept. 16 2022 to view a draft of the Constitution along with other colonial-era pieces from the collection.
View Abraham Baldwin’s original draft copy of the US Constitution. One of only a few still in existence, the draft includes the handwritten margin notes of Baldwin, one of Georgia’s signers of the Constitution of 1787.
This treasure of the GHS collection, along with a recently conserved Revolutionary War-era drum and other unique objects and documents highlighting Georgia’s role in the development and evolution of our national story will be on display Fri. Sept. 16 2022.
The event consists of a self-paced tour with guidance for pre-registered K-12 groups provided by GHS staff and includes a scavenger hunt activity for students. The tour will take approximately 30 minutes to complete.
GHS welcomes public, private, and home school groups grades fifth-twelfth to attend. All groups must be accompanied by teacher or parent chaperones. Time slots are available on a first-come-first-served basis starting at 9AM.-2PM on Fri. Sept. 16, 2022. Any group containing more than ten students will need to reserve a time slot.

This SCT Pooler class – open to 2nd-8th grade students – will meet Mondays 4:30-6:30PM with performances Jan. 6 and 8 2023. The minimum age is 7 by Sept. 1, 2022.
The class and performance will be at Relentless Church, 505 Hwy 80 #C in Pooler.
Students will learn choreography, music and stage craft and at the end of the session they will perform in a full musical production of Disney’s 101 Dalmatians, complete with costumes, lights and mics. Performances will be on Jan. 6 & 8, 2023 at Relentless Church. Extra classes will be held prior to the holiday break and the week leading up to performances. This is known as “tech week”. In addition to meeting Monday, students will meet an additional 2 extra days those weeks. Exact dates, times and additional information will be shared closer to the performance dates.

Imagination Mornings are engaging mornings of crafts, stories, and movement that take place inside the Savannah Cultural Arts Center! They are geared toward children up to 7 years old.

Scribble Art Studio’s after school art classes in Savannah teach foundational skills and self-expression. Art Classes for 2022-2023 begin Mon. Aug. 29 2022
These after-school art classes explore artmaking using a wide variety of materials and mediums including: design markers, tempera, acrylic and watercolor paints, printmaking and sculpture materials, collage, paper-making and more.
Classes begin Mon. Aug. 29th, 2022 and run through the end of the school year.
Cost for each block of five classes: $200 and includes all materials.

Weekend Family Drop-In Studio is a time to unleash your creativity. Join Telfair Museums’ Jepson Center in the studios every Saturday and Sunday between 10AM and 2PM for artmaking projects for all ages.
During Family Drop-In Studio, work at your own pace and comfort level through an array of creative mediums such as watercolors, collage, calligraphy, origami, coloring books and much more.
Each month features a special project designed to connect with an exhibition at the museum. A studio assistant is on hand to answer questions and assist guests.
Drop-In Studio is perfect for all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Telfair offers this back-to-school family event with inflatable fun and art activities based on the museum’s exhibition ‘Blow Up: Inflatable Contemporary Art!’
The event from 1-5PM will include balloon sculpture demonstrations and inflatable inflatable games, art making projects, a family tour of ‘Blow Up,’ and more.
Experience the joy of performing! The Tybee Ballet Theatre is holding open dance auditions for roles in The Land of the Sweets, their rendition of the beloved holiday classic, The Nutcracker. Ages 6 and older (yes adults, too!) are encouraged to join – dance experience is recommended but is not a requirement.
If selected, dancers will be required to attend weekend rehearsals beginning Sept. 10 2022 leading up to the final showcase, presented for free on Nov. 19 2022 at the Savannah Cultural Arts Center. More details will be available at the audition.
