The public is invited to a special free program History of Basketball @ St. Andrew’s School in Savannah on Thursday, Feb. 23 which highlights the history of basketball.

The program begins at 8AM in Compton Gym, St. Andrew’s School, 601 Penn Waller Road, Savannah 31410.

The history of basketball will be presented by actor Clyk Cozart, former collegiate and ABA athlete Jim Dawson, former Globetrotter Larry “Gator” Rivers, and sports publicist Keith Zimmerman. And for the first time, the Olympic Berg Ball will be on display. This is the winning basketball used by the American team in the 1936 Berlin hosted Olympics, the first year basketball was a part of the Olympic games. Later this year, the gold medal ball will be auctioned off at a starting bid of $1 million.
