The pumpkin rescue is on for 2021. For the month of October, November and December, Whippoorwill will take your carved, whole or unpainted pumpkins.
Bring them to the Forsyth Farmers Market, the Hilton Head Farmers Market or come straight to the farm and feed the whole, unpainted or carved unpainted pumpkins to the pigs yourself. The farm is always open for shopping but for these months, you can come feed your pumpkins and walk the farm by bringing one pumpkin per person as admission, no purchase required.
What’s accepted: pumpkins, gourds, corn, corn cobs and corn stalks, acorns or other nuts AND bagged leaves in brown bags. If you have a smelly, rotting pumpkin, please bring it to the farm directly.
Have a neighborhood that wants to participate? Have a designated drop off spot in your plantation or neighborhood and work together to collect and bring them out. Whippoorwill Farms will even pick up pumpkins for 300+ pumpkins.
Own a business and want to be a drop off location? Reach out to Whippoorwill Farms. They will list your business on their social media and list you as a drop off location on our flyers and website.
Last year, Whippoorwill Farms rescued almost 1,500 pumpkins from the landfill. The goal is to beat that number this year.
