Plant Riverside District to Host Easter Brunch on Sunday, March 31, Featuring Easter Egg Hunt, Live Petting Zoo and Easter Bunny Visit

The Easter Brunch at Plant Riverside District on Sun. March 31 2024 will feature an elegant, expansive menu filled with traditional Easter favorites and other chef-prepared cuisine.

Brunch attendees can also enjoy spending time in a petting zoo comprised of a miniature highland cow, miniature horse, bunnies, chicks and ducklings, sheep and more. The Easter Bunny will be on-site as well to spend time with the kids and provide parents with a photo opportunity throughout brunch.

An Easter Egg Hunt for kids of all ages in Martin Luther King, Jr. Park will take place at noon and 2:30PM

Menu highlights include a chef’s breakfast action stations featuring an omelet and bagel bar; Morning Classics with fruits, pastries bacon and sausages; Composed Salads, a Coastal Seafood and Charcuterie station with fresh shucked oysters, jumbo shrimp and artisan cheeses and charcuterie; Carving Station with glazed ham, lamb roast and slow smoked prime rib accompanies by favorite Sides and Specialties such as scalloped potato gratin and grilled jumbo asparagus and cheddar bakes mac and cheese; and finishing with an extravagant display of pies, cakes, tortes and cookies from the award-winning pastry team.

Pooler Farmers Market, March 10 2024 @ Tom Triplett Park

We’ve already had roughly 10,000 people come through this incredible mega market & farmers market. If you haven’t visited the market yet, what are you waiting for? The free-family-friendly Pooler Mega Pop Up & Farmer’s Market is back at Tom Triplett Park March 10 2024 from 10AM – 4PM.

Last month we moved the kid zone with lots of new games and activities to the tennis courts and it was a big hit. Each month we have new healthy living workshops and at least one free workout session that is kid friendly.  We have truly designed this event to be a family affair. 

Our three best tips for a great time at the market:

1. Wear comfy shoes. The event is around the lake. We want you to experience this beautiful park from all angles.

2. Stop and talk to as many vendors as possible. You just might find that you have some pretty incredible neighbors.

3. Come early and plan to stay awhile! There’s a lot to do and see.

The beloved Savannah tug boat children’s play area is back on Savannah’s River Street, refurbished and modernized , replacing the original wooden 1977 tugboat, designed by Riverfront Urban Renewal Project architect Eric Meyerhoff. 

The original tugboat, nicknamed “Tinkerbell,” had become dilapidated over the years and had been repaired and rebuilt multiple times until it was removed several years ago for safety reasons. 

The donation of the new ADA accessible tugboat play area is from Margot Meyerhoff, daughter Eric Meyerhoff.  Stephen Nottingham, from Frendesign, modernized the design.

Touch-A-Truck @ Tanger Outlets Savannah in Pooler, 2-4PM Feb. 25

Tanger Outlets Savannah invites the community to its inaugural Touch-a-Truck event on Sunday, Feb. 25 from 2-4 p.m.

Meet the Pooler Fire Department fire fighters and have close-up experience with the fire truck. Memorial Health will provide car seat safety checks for parents.

Stop by Tanger Outlet’s faux lighthouse any time between 2-4PM to learn about fire safety and see the fire trucks. Coloring books, crayons, and firemen hats will be given to each child in attendance.

The Savannah-Chatham County Public School System has 65 Georgia Lottery Funded (aka FREE!) Pre-K classes serving more than 1,400 students. The application window for SCCPSS Pre-K programs is Jan. 27, 2024 until Feb. 9, 2024. Students must be four years old on or before Sept. 1, 2024. This is a free Pre-K program.

The Little Acorn Academy is a full-day program for 3-year-olds. The Little Acorn Academy is a program where students will learn their ABCs, colors, and how to spell, giving students an advantage when they enroll in a pre-k program. Students must be 3 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2024, and must be potty-trained.

We’ve made quite a few improvements for this month’s Mega Pop-Up and Farmers Market in Pooler.

The BIGGEST improvement is parking! We’ve moved all the vendors and activities to the front of the park and are utilizing the back field for parking. 

The MOST FUN improvement is that we’ve added some pretty cool games to the kid zone; which is now located inside the tennis courts. 

We didn’t leave out the parents! We have a Black History Month celebration happening in the main pavilion, live music, incredible vendors, a farmers market section (now near the dog park), free fitness classes and healthy living workshops for YOU!

Free children’s book reading by local author Phyllis Tildes @ Skidaway Island State Park, Feb. 3

Come to Skidaway Island State Park in Savannah on Sat. Feb. 3 2-3PM in the Interpretive Center to listen to local author Phyllis Tildes read her charming books for children inspired by nature. You’ll also have the opportunity to color some of the author’s beautiful illustrations.

Phyllis Limbacher Tildes is an award-winning author and illustrator of picture books for children ages 0-8. Her love of nature and wildlife is evident in many of her titles. Her latest book, Bunny’s Big Surprise, was released in 2020 and features a variety of low-country wildlife. She has published 24 books, including Counting on Calico in 1995. Her 25th book, a board book version of her popular Eye Guess, will be released in January 2024.
