Summer STEAM Wednesdays with Chatham County Extension 4-H at Savannah Children’s Museum

This summer, Chatham County Extension 4-H will host a special series of hands-on STEAM programs at the new indoor STEAM Center at Savannah Children’s Museum.

Designed for students ages 10-12, with older youth welcome, these interactive sessions explore science, nature, genetics, conservation, and environmental education through engaging activities and discovery-based learning.

Wednesday, July 1 | 1–2PM

Pollinators: Students will discover the importance of pollinators in our environment and ways we can help protect them.

Plant Identification: Students will learn how to identify plants using characteristics such as leaf type and flower structure.

Endangered Animals and Habitats: Students will explore endangered species native to Georgia and learn how conservation efforts can help protect them.

The Incredible Journey: Students will learn about the water cycle, watersheds, and the movement of water through the environment.

Diamondback Terrapin Hatchling Show & Tell @ the STEAM Center at Savannah Children’s Museum

Hold a terrapin turtle hatchling and learn about local conservation efforts to help Diamondback Terrapin populations recover through nest protection and egg relocation. Representatives from the Skidaway Audubon Diamondback Terrapin Rescue Project will share how families can help protect these remarkable coastal turtles.

Summer hours at Savannah Children’s Museum outdoor section start Wed. May 27th.

Summer Hours Begin Wednesday, May 27th
• Wednesday-Monday: 9AM-2PM
• Tuesday: Closed (reserved for big groups)

Memorial Weekend 2026 Schedule:
• Open Sunday, May 24th
• Open Monday, May 25th for Memorial Day
• Closed Tuesday, May 26th
• Summer hours officially begin Wednesday, May 27th

Train rides next door at Georgia State Railroad Museum:
• hourly, 10AM-3PM Wednesdays-Sundays plus on Memorial Day

The new indoor STEAM Center at Savannah Children’s Museum will continue its year-round hours: 9AM-3PM daily.
