Music lessons, toddler/baby classes & Zumba @ Ms. Amy’s School of Music, Savannah

Monday, August 8th, 2011

Ms. Amy’s School of Music Fall schedule of classes has something for everyone:

10-10:45 AM Wednesdays: parent-and-me classes for toddlers
A joyful first music experience. Children, siblings, and adults will share in a music making program of rhythms, active movement games and singing. Come for the nurturing environment where an energetic connection is drawn between music and imagination. Meet others and learn some fascinating music activities that can be re-created at home.

10-10:45 AM Saturdays: Toddler classes
9-9:45 AM Saturdays: Musical beans class.
Enjoy playing simple, physical music games with your baby! Help babies develop musical skills, understand speech patterns, and movement skills. Through musical activities we stimulate baby’s brain development, build coordination, moterskills, enhance language, and problem solving skills. Most importantly, nurture a strong, secure, and loving bond between you and your baby.
Both Saturday classes start Sept. 10

11-11:45 AM Wednesdays: For that fun age between toddler and preschool!
This is an artistically conceived flow of songs, nursery rhymes, instrumental jam sessions, and movement activities that will keep your little music maker involved. This class is designed to support children’s developing competence in tonality and rhythm and have fun. Starts Sept. 7.

Private lessons for piano, woodwinds, guitar, brass, and voice
Such lessons are in high demand and there are only a few times available. Come on in and find out why Ms. Amy has such a great level of success and student retention. Call to set up a free trial lesson to see if the school is the right fit. Hey adults – you have always wanted to learn to play that piano or guitar, so come on in and see how much fun it is to learn!

Private Music Discovery lessons: for preschoolers whose parents want them to learn a musical instrument.
Their little fingers may not be able to do it yet, but through these private half hour lessons, your little one can explore music, sound, and strengthen fingers. This has been a very successful lesson where students ease into violin, piano, or guitar at very young ages. Call for a free trial lesson!

star_fish-2.jpgA new session of Starfish Swim School children’s classes starts in March at The Chatham County Aquatic Center. Registration deadline is this Mon. Feb. 23.

A variety of classes are offered, including Starbabies for ages 6 months to 36 months. That class helps such very young children develop a high comfort level in the water while at the same time training parents in water safety. My son has taken several Starbabies sessions and loves it.

The goal isn’t to get toddlers to do the butterfly stroke, but to get them comfortable putting their face in the water, kicking, blowing bubbles and sometimes even learning how to climb out of the pull and jump in.

One parent must be in the water with each child. Be prepared for lots of singing (”Splashes. Splashes. We all blow bubbles….”) Starbabies sessions offered include Tuesdays/Thursdays or Saturdays. Click here for a schedule.

    aqua_tot4.jpgOther classes include:

SeaSprites for ages 3-5: swim skills through creative water activities.
    SeaStars for ages 6-8: core swimming skills and the opportunity to progress to advanced strokes;
SwimStars for ages 9 and older: swimming skills, water safety, water sports and adventure learning activities.
StrokeStars for any age that meets the skills requirement: refine freestyle and learn stroke technique for backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and more.

Classes cost $50 for non members and $38 for members. Call 912.652.6793. Learn more by clicking here. The Chatham County Aquatic Center is @ 7420 Sallie Mood
