Upcoming Kids’ Winter Art Classes/Programs @ Telfair Museums, Savannah

Loads of cool classes coming up this winter @ Telfair Museums  in conjunction with the Pulse Technology exhibit and the exhibit from the Uffizi. Two new and exciting classes are the weekend class for kids 4-7 Mini Masters, and the parent-child Family MAKE, Build Your Own Autonomous Robotic Pet on Feb. 2 2013.

Great holiday activities for kids on winter vacation include Toddler Thursdays this week Dec. 20, and of course, wcwm?, weekly thurs-sat 10-2pm.

Portfolio Builder: Youth Drawing 2

Ages 10 – 14
January 24–February 28, 2013

This class is designed to help upper-elementary & middle school students improve their drawing skills and begin the process of developing a portfolio. In Drawing II, students will focus on the figure, practicing portraiture and sketching from clothed models. Youth Drawing is a great class for students to develop their art portfolios. New students welcome! All materials provided.

VIDEO GAME DEVELOPMENT

In this five week class, students will build their own video game. Students will explore, play, and develop video games while learning computer programing from scratch using Game Maker. Students will create a simple game each day of the class and build skills to be incorporated in final games that utilize all learned skills. All materials provided.

4 to 7 Year Old Mini Masters

Saturdays, 10-11:30 am, February 16–March 9, 2013

Each day of this five week Saturday class will explore art fundamentals through exploration of different works from master artist such as Botticelli, Il Parmigianino, and Niccolo Pisano. Each day student will view, discuss, and recreate the great works form the Uffizi collection. In the studio students will make their own paint, work with gold leaf, paint their own family portraits, and more. All materials provided.

A Family MAKE, Build Your Own Autonomous Robotic Pet
Saturday, February 2

It’s good on a weekend to step back from the everyday and find little inspirations around us. The museums education staff came across “Ollie”, a little robot that is a creative fun family project, developed by creative technologist Pritika Nilaratna that explores human product interaction. This one day workshop for individuals as well as parents and their kids will use Mrs. Nilaratna original Ollie Design to develop our own personal Autonomous robotic pet blimp. http://meandollie.com/ All Materials Provided.

Toddler Thursdays
10-11:30 am
Toddler Third Thursdays are great for parents, grandparents, and caregivers with pre-school children. Designed especially for preschoolers ages 3-5 and their adult companions,this program allows toddlers to explore artwork from Telfair exhibitions and complete a fun-filled art project relating to their tour. A different tour and project will be offered each month. Time to play in ArtZeum is included.
