Comic Art Summer Camps 2023 in Savannah for grades 6 & up

Sign up now for Neighborhood Comics comic art summer camps! From zines to career options, Neighborhood Comics will walk through the steps from inspiration to creation to publication.

For grades 6 and up.

These three classes will present unique concepts, processes and methods for creating comic books. 

All classes are half-day and will be held at Neighborhood Comics’ southside Savannah Clubhouse location (1116 E. Montgomery Cross Rd Savannah, GA 31406). All classes have a minimum size of 8 students. If that minimum is not reached, the course will be canceled and fees refunded.

Comic Art Careers

*Two Sessions: June 26-30 & July 17-21 2023

*Weekdays from 1:30PM – 5:00PM

*Class size: 8-12 

*Cost: $300

This one-week seminar focuses on the technical aspects of working in the comic book industry. Each day covers a different topic, including the four main principles of comic art (penciling, inking, coloring and lettering) as well as related topics such as anatomy, perspective and dynamic page layouts. Camp includes individualized student critiques or reviews from working comic artists. Basic art supplies (pencils, pens, paper etc) are provided at the studio.

Takeaways: Custom sketch book, 10 comic books, class notes, 12-page original comic featuring the student’s work.

Zines & Mini Comics

*One Session: June 26-30, 2023

*Weekdays from 9:00AM – 12:30PM

*Class size: 8-12 

*Cost: $275

Zines and mini-comics are an inexpensive, effective medium to convey short stories, political opinions, satire and fandom. This course focuses on the history of zines and zine making techniques on a budget. The class will examine self-published works and students will develop a minimum of 3 different zine concepts during the week, one of which will be created in multiples. Basic art supplies (pencils, pens, paper etc) are provided at the studio.

Takeaways: Custom sketch book, 10 comic books/zines, class notes, 3+ self-produced zines plus multiples.

Storytelling Through Comics

Over the course of this one-week seminar, students will learn the basics of storytelling through sequential art. This includes development of concept, plot, pacing, conflict and resolution. Note: This class focuses on crafting stories, not art style or technical skills. Basic art supplies (pencils, pens, paper etc) are provided at the studio.

St. Andrew’s Summer Camps 2023 on Wilmington Island, Savannah

Join the fun this summer for day and specialty camps for all ages @ St. Andrew’s School on Wilmington Is. in Savannah.

Camp is held in the Johnson Center, 601 Penn Waller Road.

Children attending camp do NOT have to be St. Andrew’s students.

Camp Options:
Age 5 to 6th Grade: Full Days Summer Day Camp
(Campers must turn five by June 5th to register for a full day.)
Age 4: Half day of summer camp ONLY. Choose morning or afternoon.
Specialty Camps: Kindergarten-8th grade. Each specialty camp differs in age range.

June 6-July 22 Day Camp (Campus will be closed June 20 & July 5)
9AM-4PM Carpool drop off begins at 8:45AM
EXTENDED BEFORE AND/OR AFTER CARE
8-9AM & 4-6PM.

Specialty Camp for ages K-8th include: Baseballl, Dance, Cheer, Outdoor Explorers, Baby Sitter Boot Camp, Flag Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Soccer, Storytelling, Drama, Dodgeball, Crafts, Harry Potter, E-Sports, Capture the Flag, Sports Explorer, Kindergarten Boot Camp, Softball & more.

Pinspiration in Pooler Art Camps 2023 for ages 7-13

Join us at Pinspiration in Pooler for a fun-filled, Pinterest-inspired Art Camp!

We are offering five weeks of themed art camps. 

Each week has a new theme, and your kiddo will walk away with an armful of creations, learned techniques, and long-lasting memories.

Choose which camp theme speaks to your child or enjoy them all.

Camp runs Tuesday-Friday, 9:30 am-12:00 pm, with a weekly rate of $180+tax per child and includes daily camp care and all necessary tools and supplies to create. Daily Snack & Drink provided.

Week 1, June 6-9, COLOR CREATIONS.  We’ll acrylic pour a vase and canvas, hydro dip a pot, make alcohol ink coasters and glass, make spin art, and have a splatter party on Friday with their new friends!

Week 2, June 13-16, BOHO BLISS.  We’ll make a dream catcher, rainbow fiber art, string art, ceramic elephant bank,  a flower pot and have a splatter party on Friday with their new friends!

Week 3, June 20-23, TIE DYE DIY.  We’ll tie dye a shirt and a drawstring bag,  hydro dip a hat and flower pot, make alcohol ink coasters and have a splatter party on Friday with their new friends!

Week 4, July 10-14, PERFECT PET.  We’ll make a faux fish aquarium, a hook plaque, a treat dispenser, a 12×12 painting of their choosing,  stamped jewelry, and have a splatter party on Friday with their new friends!

Week 5, July 18-21, CRAFTING PALOOZA.  We’ll make a melted wax heart on canvas, a treat dispenser, string art, acrylic pour, alcohol ink coasters, and have a splatter party on Friday with their new friends!
