The Kids-K kicks off the fun-filled day at 8:00 AM. This 400-yard race is perfect for children eight years old or younger, and it’s free with no registration required. At 8:15 AM the Diaper Dash will start, with children ages two and under running 40 feet. Finally, the main run and walk of the 4-mile course begins at 8:30 AM.

Full Moon Hike: 6:30PM Fri. Nov. 15. Beaver Moon: Come view the Beaver Moon above your favorite state park. Join us for a hike as we experience the trails as you’ve likely never seen them before. Fungi Friday Hike: 10AM Fri. Nov. 29. A wide variety of mushrooms pop up on the trails at Skidaway Island State Park. Let’s see what mushrooms we can find and identify. Make sure to bring your smartphone or camera! Meet at the Big Ferry trailhead for a 3-mile hike around the entirety of the Big Ferry trail.
Gather ‘round the Campfire: 6-8PM Fri. Nov. 22. There’s a chill in the air and it’s the perfect time to get cozy around the campfire. Join us as we take this time to reflect on the last year and share what we’re most thankful for. Hot beverages will be provided while supplies last. Purchase a s’more kit for $2.00 while supplies last. Meet at the fire pit behind the Visitor Center.
Read with a Ranger: 10AM Tues. Nov. 19. Young children will enjoy getting out for this hour of interactive reading. Listen to nature stories perfect for children with a love of the outdoors. Meet at the Interpretive Center, outside if fair weather.
Roving Ranger: 3PM Wed. Nov. 13; 3PM Thurs. Nov. 21; 3PM Wed. Nov. 27. A ranger will be roving the park to answer your questions about local flora, fauna, and more!
Skidaway Scavengers: 10AM-3PM Sun. Nov. 24. Are you a keen observer? Finding the beauty in nature is its own reward, but today you have a chance to earn an additional prize. Stop by the Visitor Center to receive your instructions then head out to explore!
Tree ID Hike: 10AM Sun. Nov. 17. Ever wonder, “What tree is that?” Come and find out. Our naturalist will lead a 1-mile hike, pointing out a variety of trees along the way. Meet at the Big Ferry trailhead.
Make a mark that will celebrate your family over the holiday break November 23rd-24th and 26th 2024 @ Learning Through Studio’s family/group art making workshops.
You will learn the basics of mark-making by using printmaking techniques to create a customized mixed-media work of art. All art supplies are included. Feel free to bring your own snacks to share.
Each Family or group will leave with handmade mixed media painting on paper ready to decorate your home. Each participant will leave also with a 8×10 canvas panel to add to this memory. Framing information available by request.
