At this special family-friendly poetry reading, poet Quraysh Ali Lansana will read and discuss his brand new picture book A Gift from Greensboro (Penny Candy Books, 2016) along with special guest poet-performer, Samantha Thornhill.

About the book
A Gift from Greensboro (for ages 5 & older) is at once an elegy, a celebration of the magic of childhood friendship and adventure, and a meditation on growing up in the wake of the sit-ins that ushered in the Civil Rights Movement. Paired with Skip Hill’s intricate, brimming-with-life illustrations, this poem recognizes that true friendship knows no boundaries, and this is the true gift from Greensboro.
