(Savannah museums, forts) Cure Me or Kill Me at Old Fort Jackson

Old Fort Jackson Savannah kids historical sites forts

If you had been a soldier during the American Civil War, would common medical treatments of the time have cured you–or killed you?

Visit Old Fort Jackson in Savannah on Saturdays and Sundays during October 2019 for Cure Me or Kill Me to explore the struggles of ill and wounded soldiers fighting on both sides during the American Civil War.

Cure Me or Kill Me will allow visitors to participate in infantry demonstrations and to learn about triage, field hospitals, surgery, and so much more! Get hands-on experience with moving a stretcher and performing battlefield triage, as well as an up-close look at a variety of tools used in treatment.

Cure Me or Kill Me programming is ongoing 10AM-4PM Saturdays and Sundays in October. This family-friendly programming is included in museum admission ($9 per adult, $5 per child, age 2 to 12) and is appropriate for all audiences. Cure Me or Kill Me is FREE for Coastal Heritage Society members. Find info on how to become a member here.
