Refuge Adventure 2016 on Blackbeard Island
On Sat. Oct. 8, 2016, Savannah National Wildlife Refuge staff and volunteers will transport guests (ages 8 and older only) to Blackbeard Island NWR for day-trip full of adventure
On-site activities will include ecology hikes, birding walks, photography workshops, and an island history program. Visitors may also try their hand at outdoor skills like archery, cast-netting, fly-tying, and orienteering. Boat space is limited for this program, therefore reservations are required.
Cost: $10 for ages 16 and over; $5 for ages 8-15. The public is also welcome to use their own boats to travel to the Refuge and participate in the day’s activities at no charge.

Payment for the boat transportation can be paid by cash (by mail or in person) or with a credit card (over the phone). In the event of inclement weather, the event will be cancelled, participants notified, and their payments returned.
UPDATE: There are only a few slots. There will be a wait list. Only 6 openings remain for the chartered boat ride to the island.
If you own your own boat, you can still attend. Organizers just ask that you contact them to let us know how many are coming, and which activities you might want to sign up for. Call (843) 784-2468.

FREE presentation about Blackbeard Island: 300 Years of History
Local historian and author, Buddy Sullivan, will deliver a presentation on the history of Blackbeard Island NWR.
The free event will be 6PM Mon. Oct. 3, 2016, at the Live Oak Public Libraries Southwest Chatham Branch, located adjacent to the Savannah Mall, 14097 Abercorn St, Savannah, GA 31419.
