Week-long Summer Workshops and Camps at the Studio School in Savannah.

June 1-5
Putting it in Perspective
Instructor Lind Hollingsworth
9am-3pm daily

This workshop will familiarize the students with the basic concepts of linear perspective and then apply them to their art. We learn about linear perspective by using the technique to create imaginary spaces and compositions. We will also apply the concepts to an observational drawing. We will use a variety of media. The finished pieces can be great additions to the student’s portfolio.
Ages 12 & up
$195
Students will bring a 11 x 14 (minimum size) sketchbook and an 18” C Thru ruler. All other supplies will be provided

June 8- 12
Oil Painting for Youth
Instructor Jack Murphy
9am-3pm daily

An intensive summer camp for the serious art student. Students will learn to chose and lay out a palette in the tradition of the Great Masters, work safely and effectively with oil color; and, most importantly, how to start and finish a painting from life. We will pay special attention to color mixing and paint application. Some drawing experience helpful.
Age 11 and up.
$195 includes all materials.

June 15 – 19
Paper Mache Sculpture
Instructor Lind Hollingsworth
9am-3pm daily

This camp is a really fun creative mess! Students will create a 3-D creature and a vessel out of papier mache. We will be using a wide variety of materials including paper based clay and recycled materials. The sculptures will be finished in acrylic paint and collage. Finished pieces can fill a 3-D portfolio requirement.
Ages 10 & up
$195 includes all materials.

June 22-26
The Alla Prima Portrait
Instructor Karen Bradley
1-4pm daily

Participants must have adequate drawing experience and must submit 1-3 pieces of work to be accepted into this class by the instructor. The alla prima portrait is a portrait completed in one live sitting, while the paint is still wet. This class will provide experience and techniques shared by the instructor with this approach.
Ages 16 and up.
$280 includes model fees

Students will bring:
a 11 x 14 pad of Fredricks canvas paper (or individual canvases or boards)
bristol brushes of various sizes and shapes
gamsol
oil paints: burnt sienna, titanium white, cad yellow, cad red, ivory black (or paints of student’s choice)
viva paper towels
pallet
pallet knife for mixing

July 6-8

Mythical Beasts and Beauties

In this camp we’ll create unicorns, dragons, ogres, fairies, merpeople and whatever else we might dream up! Students will create a number of pieces in a variety of media including colored pencil, paint and paper based clay
Ages 10 & up

July 20 – 24
Acrylic Painting and Mixed Media
Instructor Lind Hollingsworth
9am-3pm daily

Strengthen basic design skills while using a variety of media and techniques.
Students will great dynamic 2-d pieces that focus on a few design elements and
techniques. Media will include acrylic paint and mediums, collage, and found objects
and more. We will deal with both representational and abstract subject matter.
Ages 12 & Up
$195 includes all materials.
