Annual FREE Savannah Asian Festival is Sat. June 22

asian-festival.jpgThe City of Savannah’s Department of Cultural Affairs and the Savannah Asian Festival Committee present the 18th Annual Savannah Asian Festival on June 22, 2013 at the Savannah Civic Center from 11a.m. – 5p.m.

This one day event will feature an entire continent of unique cultures, cuisines, performances, fun and educational workshops.

Festival attendees can enjoy free, live stage performances by Lee’s Taekwondo, Namaste Savannah, Sanggar Lestari Indonesian Performing Group and the Matsuriza Taiko Drummers. A new addition to this year’s festival is the chair stacking Flying Dragon Acrobats and Vida Vongsay & Team Lion Dancers. The Asian Festival will be hosted by reality star Chef, Host, and Restaurateur, Orchid Paulmeier.

Several local restaurants will be presenting a selection of regional favorites from India, Philippines, Japan and China.

The festival will also feature martial arts demonstrations, children’s workshops and a Middle Eastern tea workshop.

The Cultural Marketplace will provide an opportunity for attendees to learn more about each country and discover traditional arts, crafts, fashions and treasures exclusive to each nation.

The Savannah Asian Festival is free courtesy of the City of Savannah. The festival takes place Saturday, June 22, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Savannah Civic Center, located at Montgomery and Liberty streets. Parking at the Civic Center is free for the day.

There is a charge for food and purchases from the Cultural Marketplace.
