Gold Dragon Acrobats to perform live at Armstrong, Savannah

The Golden Dragon Acrobats, the world’s leading touring Chinese acrobatic troupe, will perform live at Armstrong Atlanic State University Fine Arts Auditorium at 7:30 PM Thurs. Feb. 16 2012.

The Golden Dragon Acrobats represent the best of a time-honored tradition that began more than 2,500 years ago. The Golden Dragons are recognized throughout the United States and abroad as the premier Chinese acrobatic touring company.

Hailing from the central Chinese city of Xian, the troupe features talented jugglers, contortionists and acrobats. In November 2005, the Golden Dragon Acrobats made their Broadway debut to a sold-out audience at the New Victory Theater, New York’s ultimate theater for kids and families. Their Broadway run led to adoration and standing ovations from audiences of all ages and universal critical acclaim.

The reputation of the company is rooted in a commitment to the highest production values and a remarkable attention to artistic detail. World-renowned impresario Danny Chang and choreographer Angela Chang combine award-winning acrobatics, traditional dance, spectacular costumes, ancient and contemporary music and theatrical techniques to present a show of breathtaking skill and spellbinding beauty.

The only year-round touring Chinese acrobatic company in the United States, Golden Dragon Acrobats perform a wide range of acts, including the lively Thousand Hand Dance, the high-energy Spinning Wheel and the nail-biting Tower of Chairs.

Advance tickets are $10 to $20. Day of show tickets are $25. Discounts are available to Armstrong faculty, staff and students at the box office. Advance tickets go on sale January 20.
