Asperger’s Support Group: How Social Difficulties Effect Emotional Health
Topic: Jennifer will discuss how the social difficulty a person with ASD experiences can affect their emotional health, as well as the emotional health of their caregivers. She will specifically discuss how counseling interventions such Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Social Skills Groups can help develop positive coping skills to stress, provide tools for positive interactions, and increase self-esteem.
Jennifer has over 14 years of experience in working with children and adolescents with special needs and their families in a variety of roles and settings including early intervention, daycare, public school, and private organizations. She has presented to support groups, community organizations, and state conferences on a variety of topics including Understanding Autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, Autism and Work Related Goals, and Social Skills for children with Autism.

Jennifer is a mother to four children, three of whom have a diagnosis of Autism.

Jennifer’s personal experience, paired with professional knowledge provides for a more in depth perceptive and understanding. She offers an array of services based on the client’s needs such as behavioral consultation, social skills group therapy, family and individual therapy and coaching. A healthy balance between behavioral and emotional goals is a key component of all the services
