Summer Camps at Telfair Museums offer hands-on artmaking, gallery exploration, and a chance for young artists to experiment with new materials and ideas.
Each week brings fresh inspiration and creative projects.
Every day features a new creative exploration for preteen artists, emphasizing individualized inspiration alongside traditional drawing and painting skills. This Camp uniquely supports upper-elementary and middle school students portfolio development, with specific art techniques, and the establishment of strong studio habits. It stands out by blending indoor instruction with frequent outdoor sessions at inspiring local museum-adjacent sites.
Each day brings an original and challenging project for young artists, focusing on individual expression and mastery of traditional drawing and painting. Uniquely tailored for developing portfolios, this Camp helps upper-elementary and middle school students refine advanced skills and habits. On-site and outdoor sessions near the museum add new contexts for creative growth.
Photography is fun, accessible to everyone, and a great way to explore the world around us. This camp will meet outside as much as possible during morning hours as we explore our environment and nearby locations through Photography. Using DSLR cameras, students will learn to use manual controls to master specialized photography techniques. The program will enhance your young people’s photography skills.

Campers will enjoy hands-on art adventures as they explore all three Telfair Museum locations. Each session offers unique behind-the-scenes gallery activities, interactive tours, and age-specific art projects in drawing, painting, and printmaking guided by local professionals. This camp is tailored for younger children who thrive on immersive discovery and variety in an inspiring museum setting.
Ultimate Crafty Kids Camp distinguishes itself by offering a rotation of creative projects, including screen printing, knitting, friendship bracelets, weaving and more. Students will learn a variety of hands-on techniques that encourage independent making and will leave camp with finished, unique crafts and new skills.
Visitors will have an opportunity to explore Frogtown Garden and learn from Savannah Children’s Museum Lead Educator Ms. Katrinka about a variety of fruits, vegetables, & herbs that are growing.

Savannah Sharks locations in Savannah & Rincon will offer a vast array of summer camps including: tumble camp, Sharkie School Camp, American Girl Cheer Camp, Popstar Tumble Camp, Princess Camp, Tumble, Stunt & Strength Camp and more.
Archery*: Hour-long slots available during the hours listed. Learn the basics of archery and test your skills on the range. This program will cover basic safety and technique. Equipment provided. Participants must be at least 10 years old. $10 per person. Please call (912) 598-2300 to reserve your hour in advance. Plan to arrive at least 10 minutes early to check in at the archery range.
Backyard Birding: Join a ranger in our bird watching area behind the Visitor Center. We will identify and discuss the native bird species that live in the park and may also be found in your own backyard. Bring your own binoculars or borrow a pair from us.
DIY Birdfeeder: Birdfeeders provide an energetic boost to the diets of local and migrating birds looking for a hearty meal. Make your own to take home while watching our birdfeeders. Please note: peanut butter is one of the main ingredients used. Meet behind the Visitor Center at the picnic tables. $3 per person.
Earth Day Hike: Celebrate the 56th year of Earth Day with a hike on the Big Ferry Trail as we discuss “leave no trace” and plastic pollution. Meet at the Big Ferry Trailhead for a 3-mile hike.
Fungi Friday: Have you ever wondered how and why mushrooms grow the way they do? Join our interpretive ranger to learn more as we find and identify fungi on and near the trails. Be sure to bring your smartphone or camera! Meet at the Big Ferry Trailhead for a 1-2 mile hike.
Jewels of the Marsh: Diamondback Terrapins: The diamondback terrapin is the only turtle that lives specifically in brackish water. It is a keystone species in the saltmarsh ecosystem. Come join us for a closer look at this jewel of the marsh. Meet in the Interpretive Center for a 30-minute program and see our two live diamondback terrapins.
Marsh Hike: Meet up with a ranger for a guided hike along our coastal salt marshes, take in the sights and sounds of island scenery, and learn about this important ecosystem. The trails are near the water and can be muddy in some spots, so please wear sturdy shoes. Meet at the Sandpiper Trail behind the Visitor Center for this one-mile hike.
Mollusk Madness: Have you ever picked up a shell and wondered about the mysterious animals that live inside them? Whether on the land or in the water, mollusks are all around us! Meet up with our naturalist in the Interpretive Center to learn more.
Paint a Passerine:Fly on over to the Interpretive Center and paint a picture of one of the many perching birds that can be found at the park! Materials provided. Beginners and all ages welcome. $4 per painter.
Plant ID Hike: Spring has sprung, and there are many new shoots, leaves, and flowers to observe. Join a ranger for a 1-mile hike to view, identify, and learn about the native plants that grow in our park and the surrounding area. Meet at the Big Ferry Trailhead.
Read with a Ranger: Young children will enjoy getting out for this hour of interactive reading. Listen to nature stories perfect for children with a love of the outdoors. Meet at the Interpretive Center.
Roving Ranger: A ranger will be roving the trails to answer your questions about local flora, fauna, and more. Scrappy Sculptures – Earth: Celebrate Earth Day while transforming upcycled materials into a beautiful keepsake sculpture. All materials and instruction provided. $5 per person.
Spring Scavengers: There is always something new and exciting to see – all you have to do is look! Bring the family out to explore and enjoy a spring scavenger hunt for a prize while supplies last. Stop by the Visitor Center for instructions, then head out to explore!
Snakes of Skidaway: Drop by the Interpretive Center to meet, touch, and learn all about one of our ambassador snakes: eastern rat snakes, corn snakes, an eastern garter snake, or an eastern king snake.
Unboxing the Box Turtle: Come meet some of our most elusive residents, the box turtles, and learn about their habits and amazing characteristics. Meet in the Interpretive Center.

Level Up this summer! Savannah-Chatham County Public School System offers a number of enrichment activities for Summer 2026 for students to explore various career and technical fields, as well as credit recovery, skill enhancement, and more.
The goals of Summer Level Up are to support students who need additional academic attention, expand opportunities for enrichment and real-world experiences, and ensure students stay on track for success in the upcoming school year. There are several tracks for enhanced learning:
Initial Credit: For High School Students (10-12) seeking advanced credit opportunities
Credit/Grade Recovery: For students in grades 3-12 needing academic remediation for promotion and/or graduation
Blended Learning: Leveraging instructional platforms for targeted individual and small group support
Literacy Enrichment: For English learners in grades K-2 and 6-8
ARISE/ESY: Adaptive Recreational and Instructional Summer Enrichment.
Enrichment Programs are offered this summer as well. There are fee-based camps, as well as non-fee based camps, apprenticeships and workforce readiness programs. Scholarships are available for all paid programs. Transportation is available to most programs, and some programs provide lunch. Learn more here about the many opportunities to Level Up this summer!
