Your Perfect Little Princess will receive an introduction to the fundamentals of both movement and classical dance techniques while learning about fun fairytale characters and famous ballet stories.

Campers will also have a “dress-up” time and craft time, which includes decorating their own special tiara. Your princess should bring her favorite princess gown or costume on Monday to use throughout the week.

Events include a magical tea party, princess spa and hair day and a photograph will be taken while sitting upon her enchanted throne.

On the last day, “A ROYAL INVITATION” is offered for the family to enjoy a fabulous “Runway Show”. Parents and Grandparents, bring your cameras. Healthy snacks will be provided daily. Ages 3-5 years

Old Fort Jackson soldier courses Summer 2015 Who wants to fire Old Fort Jackson’s muskets and cannon?

Old Fort Jackson in Savannah is now accepting applications for their “School of the Soldier: A Course in American Military History” series for ages 16 & older.

Here is the schedule for Summer 2015.
June 6 – “Small Arms Infantry” – Recruits will learn black powder safety, Manual of Arms, and Small Arms Maneuvers.
June 13 – “Light and Heavy Artillery” – Recruits will learn black powder safety, Light Artillery drills, and Heavy Artillery drills.
June 27 – “Light and Heavy Artillery” – Recruits will learn black powder safety, Light Artillery drills, and Heavy Artillery drills.
July 11 – “American Revolution and War of 1812 Small Arms and Artillery” – Recruits will learn black powder safety, American Revolution and War of 1812 Manual of Arms, and Small Arms Maneuvers.

Registration is limited and on a first come first serve basis. All classes are $100 each and will last from 10AM until 4PM Lunch will be provided.

The historic lighthouse at Hunting Island State Park is the only publicly accessible lighthouse in South Carolina. For an admission of $2, visitors can climb the 167 steps & walk around the observation deck for a lofty view of the barrier island and surrounding seascape. U-Pick Blackberry Season 2015, Savannah

U-pick blackberry picking Savannah

U-pick blackberry season starts Tues. May 26 @ Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens, Savannah.

Picking hours will be Monday-Thursday and Saturday from 9 am to 2 pm (Note there’s no berry picking on Fridays or Sundays).

Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens at the Historic Bamboo Farm offers fresh berry fruits for picking from the fields when in season. The harvest season is heavily weather dependent.

Call 912-921-5460 to learn the status of the field prior to arriving, as poor weather or large crowds may pick the field clean well before the 2PM scheduled closing. The best time to pick is first thing in the morning at 9 am (as it is cooler, too).

No pets allowed in the fruit picking fields during your harvest. Children must be supervised to prevent plant trampling. You are responsible to pay for all fruits (ripe or unripe) picked during a visit.

The gardens have picnic tables scattered around the grounds if you want to make a picnic out of your trip.

Warriors 4 William golf fundraiser to end childhood cancer, June 8, Savannah

Warriors for William Foundation Savannah Warriors for William Foundation tees up for their first annual golf fundraiser to eradicate childhood cancer- MONDAY, JUNE 8, 2015 at 8AM.

The foundation’s first annual golf tournament will take place at Savannah Harbor Golf Resort and Spa on Hutchinson Island in Savannah.

There will be hole prizes, gift bags full of merchandise, a 50/50 raffle and a chance at winning a car donated by Grainger Honda. Lunch will be provided by Paul Kennedy Catering.

Cost: $125 per player or $500 per team of four. Proceeds benefit Warriors for William Foundation,  a nonprofit organization to raise money for pediatric cancer research which was inspired by William Webb and his fight against neuroblastoma.

William, 4, won the hearts of many in Savannah during his brave 11-month long battle with the rare pediatric cancer. William died Feb. 5, 2014.

Visit any Live Oak Public Libraries branch and pick up your Every Hero Has a Story reading log or download one from the Live Oak Public Library website, www.liveoakpl.org.

Don’t forget to register online in the Hero Hangout area of our website so you qualify for all the great prizes.

In the Hero Hangout, you can also share reviews of your favorite books, see what others are reading this summer, make a wish list, and keep track of what you’ve read!

Read anything – comics, graphic novels, newspapers, e-books and, of course, library books.

You can also participate by listening to stories read aloud or by listening to audiobooks.

Read or be read to for a total of 10 hours. Complete and record your 10 hours from June 1 through July 31.

Keep track of the hours you’ve read by putting X’s through the books on your Every Hero Has A Story reading log.

Keep track of the book titles you’ve read on our Hero Hangout webpage online. You’ll need these to get your free book from Barnes & Noble (while supplies last).

LEVEL 1: Completed 10 hours? Starting June 9th, you can bring in your reading log and pick up your Level 1 Rewards Sheet, an entry for the grand prize drawing, and a coupon for a free book from Barnes & Noble (while supplies last). Note: Reading logs will not be accepted for rewards until June 9th.
LEVEL 2: When you finish another 10 hours (20 hours total), go to the library to pick up your Level 2 Rewards Sheet and another entry form for the grand prize drawing.
LEVEL 3: When you finish another 10 hours (30 hours total), you can pick up your Level 3 Rewards Sheet and another entry for the grand prize drawing.
LEVEL 4: When you finish another 10 hours (40 hours total), you can pick up grand prize drawing entry forms plus a special VIP Reader’s backpack and a Golden Ticket. You’ll also be recognized as a Summer Reading VIP in a special newspaper insert and at the Savannah Children’s Book Festival (Nov. 14th in Forsyth Park). Show your Golden Ticket at the VIP Reader’s booth at the festival and you’ll be given a VIP Reader’s badge to wear at the event and a copy of the newspaper insert.

GRAND PRIZE DRAWING on AUG. 10: The Grand Prize drawing will be held at the Bull Street Library on Aug. 10. Entry forms must be submitted by July 31 to qualify.
