Wiggle Worms: 30min classes ages walking – 2yrs
This “Parent and Me class” is designed to incorporate the earliest aspects of physical fitness, enhance fine and gross motor skills, body awareness, and muscle coordination while promoting physical, mental and social development. Music, basic gymnastics movements, and games create a fun and healthy atmosphere for you and your child.

Grasshoppers: 45 min classes ages 2-3yrs
This toddler class is open to children who enjoy having parents close by and are ready to learn to follow instructions from another adult. We ask parent/guardian to assist until their child is ready to participate on their own. This class continues to enhance your child’s fine and gross motor skills, social skills, strength and coordination through the activities and obstacle courses that emphasize eye-hand coordination, climbing, hanging, jumping, running, and rolling in a fun and safe environment.

Bumble Bees : 60 min classes ages 3-4yrs
This class continues to enhance and challenge your child’s physical, social and cognitive development. Basic tumbling and gymnastics skills, ball handling skills and preschool concepts are taught. Savannah Summer Camps 2012: Salvation Army Summer Arts Program

What do Japanese Taiko Drumming, Cortes and the Aztecs, African Cave Drawings, Spoken Word Poetry have in common?

These are just some of the activities youth will be able to participate in at The Salvation Army Summer Arts Program. The Summer Arts program will be held June 11-August 17, M-F 7:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

The sessions will be broken up into two week periods, covering arts performance, history and other knowledge from four different regions of the world (Asia, Africa, Latin America/Carribbean, United States). Campers will have various activities in music, dance, writing, visual arts, and drama.

Creative Technology Saturdays Camp at Georgia Tech Savannah

Register now for Creative Technology Saturdays at Georgia Tech Savannah for students in grades 4-8.

Saturday camps give your student the opportunity to learn year-round at GTS. Through this new Saturday programs, students will expand upon their previous summer camp experiences. Themes for fall 2011 include: Games Galore for video game development, Movies by Me with an emphasis on story development and presentation and LEGO Robotics challenge days.

The first Saturday Session is Sept. 24 2011. Please register by Wed. Sept. 21.

For future camps, please register at least 72 hours prior. Space is limited in all sessions.

Full-day summer camp in the Savannah area: Burton 4-H Center on Tybee Island

Summer vacation sends many parents scrambling to find local full-day summer camps. We list several in our SouthernMamas.com Summer Camps 2011 Guide.

Here’s another that includes lunch and a real plus for parents –  free transporation to and from Whitemarsh Island.  The Burton 4-H Center will host a day long summer camp program for children of the greater Savannah, GA area July 11-15. All children from grades 1 thru 8 are invited to join the Burton 4-H Center counselors for a full day of fun on the island.

Children can be dropped off at the 4-H center as early as 7:30 a.m. and can be picked up between 5:15 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. each day. Free transportation to and from Whitemarsh Island will be provided each day for those parents wanting to take advantage this opportunity. 

Each day will include time at the beach, weather permitting, as well as fun, educational programming based on the marine environment. Lunch will be provided every day as well as a hamburger and hotdog cookout dinner on Thursday evening which parents are invited to attend. Savannah Celtic offers indoor summer soccer camp for beginners

You’ve been waiting for this: Savannah Celtic is offering an INDOOR U6/U8 Summer Skills Academy Camp .

The Savannah Celtic U6/U8 Summer Skills Camp is an annual camp for players who are at the younger side of their soccer careers. Any boy or girl player between U6 and U8 is welcome to attend, regardless of level of play. The camp will have top-level coaches teaching technical skill work as well as incorporating small-sided games to develop understanding of game situations.

June 7 – July 14 (Tu/Th)
6- 7 PM (Tuesday and Thursday, each week, for 6 weeks)

The camp will be indoors at Supergoose Sports, 3700 Wallin Street, Savannah 31404

Boys and girls U6 through U8 welcome.

Carrie Christian received her MFA in Painting and her BFA in Illustration from Savannah Collage of Art and Design. Her works have been exhibited nationally and internationally.

She was included in the 2007 & 2009 Southern Editions of New American Paintings publication. Her work has been exhibited both in the Mobile Museum of Art and the Ogden Museum in New Orleans and included among many private collections.

Savannah Camp for Children with Down Syndrome

ldsslogoThe Lowcountry Down Syndrome Society (LDSS) has created Savannah’s first Summer Camp for children with Down Syndrome.

The six day program will be held 9 AM-12:30 PM on July 27, 29, and 31 and August 3, 5 and 7.

Camps are funded in part by the money the organization raises through their annual Down Syndrome Buddy Walk each October-requiring participants to pay just $30 for the three day camp. Educational and recreational activities are scheduled for children ages 3 to 6. Speech, physical and occupational therapists are on board to assist the children in their continued growth and development, while having fun.

Kids 4 and up will learn hand building techniques as they create beautiful sculptures. They will paint
their masterpieces in brilliant underglaze colors. The class will meet Mon.-Thurs. from 9:30-10:30 AM

  • Tiffany Drabek also offers other kids summer classes and camps including pottery. That “Kids on the Wheel” class is Aug. 10-13 It’s an introductory workshop for kids 8 and up to pottery making on the wheel. This may include one day of hand building.

    Kids will learn how to center the clay on the wheel and make plates and bowls. They will also paint their work in underglazes. The class is 9-11 AM Mon-Thurs. Fee: $85, includes materials. Parents are welcome to take the class with their children if they desire.
