Sesame St.’s Maria @ Children’s Bk Fest

book-festival.jpgSonia Manzano, best known as “Maria” on Sesame Street, will be at the Savannah Children’s Book Festival Saturday Nov. 17 at Forsyth Park. Sonia, also a children’s book author whose works include “A Box Full of Kittens,” will receive the first TIER Children’s Literature Award (Teach, Inspire, and Empower through Reading) from Live Oak Public Libraries at the festival. Celebrate the joy of storytelling at the 10 am-4 pm festival with children’s book authors and illustrators from across the nation.

In the weeks leading up to the festival, many authors showcased in this year’s festival will be featured in children’s programs at various Live Oak Public Libraries branches. The program, “Whooo Is It?”, for example, focuses on the books of festival guest Katie Davis, author and illustrator of “Who Hoots?” and “Who Hops?” This story time and craft session will be Oct. 29 through Nov. 15 at four libraries.
